Wanda Mae Akers 1924 - 2010

Wanda Mae Akers

Wednesday, October 27, 2010
We’ve enjoyed a precious friendship with Ron and Connie for many years. Having no extended family in Spokane we so enjoyed the many times over the years when we were a part of the celebrations. Wanda welcomed us and treated us as part of her family. She had a constant smile on her face as she watched the kids play and visited with everyone she loved. My favorite memory, and the one I will treasure the most, was on her 80th birthday. Gary was serenading her as Ron danced with her, Sharon and Kathi and everyone else who loved her was smiling as they watched her bask in that priceless moment. Now, I picture her dancing on streets of gold with her sweet husband, Ed, as Jesus watches and smiles because they are together again and with Him.

Wanda was a mentor and inspiration to me. She accepted me graciously into her family because I didn't have any brothers and sisters of my own. That was Wanda. She knew challenge and always kept her head high. She showed great kindness to others - always learning, always responsible, always fun. She loved her children and grandchildren and her parents and Ed and she put their well being first. What a blessing to have known her. Thank you, Wanda. You will be missed. My heart goes out to the family.

Wanda became a special blessing in my life after she moved to Good Samaritan. She had such a great sense of humor and always showed genuine respect to everyone. She talked about her wonderful family and expressed her love for them everyday. I will really miss her.May she rest in peace.
