Willard "Mac" Cottle McArdle 1921 - 2013

Willard "Mac" Cottle McArdle

Friday, July 19, 2013
I first met "Mac" in about 1995 when I was trying to find a job after getting out of the Navy. My best friend while I was in the Navy was Raymond P. Mann, Mac's grandson. Ray told me he would talk to his grandpa for me and because of Mac's extensive law enforcement background, he would see if I could use him as a reference to get a job with the Multnomah County Sheriffs Office. Long story, short, he said he would be glad to, and I've been with the sheriffs office for 17 yrs now. I was always grateful to him for that. I often stopped by the Federal Courthouse to say hi to him, and tell him to say hi to Ray for me. He was always nice to me, and he will be missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to his entire family.

I always enjoyed talking to Mac at the Federal Courthouse and truly believed him to be larger than live. I will miss him and look forward to when we met again.

My Memories of Mac: Love, hugs, laughing till my ribs hurt, his great laugh and beautiful smile. The way he always let his grandchildren and great granddaughter know how special they were to him and how very much he loved them. He actually loved his son in law too! He gave me the beauty of Mt.Hood and the way it sucked the air out of my lungs every time I saw it and the Evergreens of Oregon. But the most wonderful gift he ever gave me was we never let a day end without saying I love you, so night, night daddy, sweet dreams, I love you.

I'll never forget the times I got to spend with my Papa out in Oregon. He was always so funny and although separated by many miles, he never missed a birthday or forgot to mention how much I was loved. I love my Papa very much and he will truly be missed.
