William "Bill" Knight 1928 - 2013

William "Bill" Knight

January 07, 2014
I'm so very sad. Kathey and I always called Bill on his birthday, the 27th. I decided since I could not get an answer I'd check with the hospitals. Bill has been a very good friend since I began working with him at Lubbock Savings in 1976 (he taught me how to drink Scotch...). When we had our first and only daughter in 1978, Bill was the first to come into the room 30 minutes after her birth (his Quaker office was next door). He saw her graduate from Tech in 2001. We often went hunting on his ranch. And, we had a memory of one particular hunt that turned into a frog leg gathering. For 25 years he and I sent frog items to each other at Christmas time. Always trying to best each other. The last time we visited, this year, Bill was still grieving his wife Glyneth and hoping to hang on longer to finish his work. Kathey and I will so miss this great lovable guy! Harold and Kathey Schneider, Austin, Texas. Here's to you BK!

Bill and I have been friends since 1948 when we became acquainted through his close Childress friend, Murry Gay. We have maintained a casual friendship including several New Years Eve dinners during these years. Blessings.

As part of First Christian Church's hospital visitation ministry, it has been my privilege often to visit Bill. No matter how ill he might be, he was always gracious, appreciative, and upbeat. We had many great conversations in which his wisdom and humor were quite evident. I truly will miss this true gentleman. Marilyn Wragg

Mr Knight was one of the nicest people I have been allowed to interact with. He will always have a special place in my heart

I am sorry that I never had the privilege of meeting Mr. Knight. His love for people and for animals is clear.
May the memories that you share of him and the good name that he made give you comfort when sorrow takes hold of your heart.
