DONALD E. CRUMPACKER, 82, of Fort Wayne, died, with hope in his heart on Tuesday, November 22, 2016, at his residence. Born July 15,1934, in Columbia City, he was a son of the late Dora E.(Hile) and Herman J. Crumpacker. He was a retired Sgt Major having served in the regular U.S. Army and the active Army Reserves for 30 years. He retired after 28 years as an assistant vice president from Lincoln Life Insurance Co. He was a member of North Highlands Church of Christ, The Muscular Dystrophy Association, and American Legion Post 241. He served on the board and was past Chairman for Golden Years Homestead; served with the Allen County Sheriff Reserves for 30 years and was Deputy Chief from 1988 until retirement. "Donald was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend who left an incredible legacy and will be missed".
Surviving are his wife of 57 years, Marvel E.(Bradburn) Crumpacker of Fort Wayne; two sons, Dwight E. Crumpacker and Duaine E. Crumpacker, both of Fort Wayne; two daughters, Denise E. (Ben) Bouwers of Fort Wayne and Dianna E. Stalf of Columbia City; 22 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and sister, Edna Payne of Texas. He was preceded in death by three brothers; three sisters; a son-in-law; and a grandson.
Funeral service is 10 a.m. Thursday, December 1, 2016, at North Highlands Church of Christ, 1414 Archer Avenue, Fort Wayne, with calling one hour prior. The Rev. Ron Collins officiating. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial in Covington Memorial Gardens. Preferred memorials to the church or the Garman Employee Benevolence Fund.
