Cynthia Layher Obituary
LAYHER, CYNTHIA M. Chelsea, MI formerly of Grass Lake and Ann Arbor
Age 90, died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Chelsea Retirement Community. She was born August 28, 1921 in New Bedford, Massachusetts, the daughter of Joseph W. and Martha (Beaton) Gibbs. On August 24, 1946, she married Richard L. Layher in Toledo, Ohio and he preceded her in death on November 27, 1989. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Gerald and Sue of Dexter, Richard and Mary of Dexter, Randy and Eileen of Chelsea; one daughter and son-in-law, Julie and Dale Frey of Ann Arbor; ten grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, her step-mother, Evelyn Jannel; two sisters Eleanor Gibbs and Marie Anderson; two brothers, Nick Connors and Joe Gibbs. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 11, 11:00 am at Cole Funeral Chapel, Chelsea, with Rev. Stephen Bringardner officiating. Burial will follow at Washtenong Memorial Park in Ann Arbor. The family will receive friends Friday 2-4 and 6-8pm. Memorial contributions may be made to Arbor Hospice or Chelsea Retirement Community.

Cynthia was well loved back here in MA by here family, as a child growing up it was Big news if we knew she was coming East for a visit and usually a Gibbs gathering wss held . She was my first cousin and over the years she provided me with historical pictures of my homestead and where she had lived also. My heartfelt sympathy to all her family. Joanne
