Brother F.S.C. Obituary
AGE: 98 • Lincroft
Brother John Brown, F.S.C., 98, of Lincroft died Friday, May 4, 2012 at De La Salle Hall, Lincroft. He was born in Palmer, Mass., and had received the Holy Habit of the Christian Brothers on December 7, 1931. He was a graduate of Manhattan College, had attended Brown University, and received a Master of Arts degree from New York University. His assignments included La Salle Academy, Providence, R.I., St. Mary's School, Waltham, Mass., De La Salle Institute, New York City, La Salle Institute, Troy, N.Y., St. Joseph's School, Detroit, Michigan, and Manhattan Prep., Bronx, N.Y. before returning to La Salle Institute where he served as Vice Principal. He has been in residence at De La Salle Hall since 2004.
The viewing will be held at De La Salle Hall, Lincroft on Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Funeral Liturgy will be celebrated at De La Salle Halle on Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. followed by interment at St. Gabriel's Cemetery, Marlboro Township. Memorial donations to De La Salle Nursing Development, 810 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft, NJ 07738 would be appreciated. Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold is in charge of arrangements.

The Manhattan College alumni community shares the grief, and is now praying for our fellow alumni and the family at this time. The Alumni Office has been informed. As well as the Jasper Jottings community that I personally can reach. We are all a little poorer now. "No man is an island, entire of itself ... any man's death diminishes me". We are sorry for your loss.
On a personal note, I believe, subject confirmation from my fellow Prepsters, that Brother attempted to teach me in High School. I apologize that I was a terrible student and giant pain in his, and all the teachers, . I no longer blame them, but myself for not tunneling out. As opposed to checking out mentally which is what I did. I do remember all the Brothers as real human beings from time to time. Funny the perceptions of youth. I've long ago added all my teachers to my prayer list and hope that the forgive me my "youthful exuberance".
