I taught at VMMS for 19 years - and Mr. Philip Pagano was my Principal for many of them. I considered him to be extremely competent, kind, fair, and always mindful of the best interests of our students. His unannounced visits to my 7th grade classroom were among the best experiences of my teaching career - his love of young people simply shone
even brighter on those occasions. My deepest sympathy and condolences to his family.

I am so distraut that I was out of town and unaware of Phil's passing. Not only was Phil my "boss" at VMMS, but a dear friend, as well. At one point, he wanted to have me assigned as his administrative assistant, but I opted to remain a classroom teacher, since that was where my heart was located. Instead, he asked me to take a self-contained G & T class, where I remained until my retirement in 1997. Over the passing years, I would occasionally run into him at mass at St. Justin's. Our last contact was at the viewing for Joe Eid, where we had a lovely chat.

Not only was Phil a great educator, but a dear friend, as well. He will be sorely missed. My sincere condolences to Mary Ann and the whole family.

After spending 31years teaching in Brick I would say that Phil Pagano was the finest administrator I taught under. My wife, also teaching in Brick for 30 years echoes these same sentiments. He took pride in his school and touched everyone ego came in contact with him in a special way. Our sincere condolences to Mary Ann and family. A great loss to our community.

As our principal in the newly opened Lake Riviera Middle School, Mr. Pagano exhibited the type of kind, clear leadership that caused all of his students to respect him and to follow his lead. When I became an educator in the Brick Township district, I was gratified but not at all surprised that he congratulated me personally and welcomed me aboard with wise words about both the joy and the responsibility of working so directly with children. As an adult, I felt the same respect for him as I did as a student in his school. Please except my heartfelt condolences to all the members of the Pagano family at your loss. May he rest in peace.

Philip Pagano lived a few doors away from me when I lived at home in Silverton. Later on he'd come over to Lavallette to the Flea markets each year and we'd catch up on things. My condolences to your family Phil, we will certainly miss you.

Mr. Pagano has been our dear and wonderful neighbor for 3 years now after he and Mary Ann sold us their family's home in Silverton. All of us will miss you working outside, chatting with neighbors, playing with Peanut and being there to tell us your great stories. We only wish now we had more time with you but feel blessed since meeting you 3 years ago. Our deepest sympathy to you Mary Ann. Love, Teresa, Rich, Leann and Tommy

Mr Pagano lived 2 doors from us in Silverton. I don't remember but my Dad says everyone called him the 'Mayor'. Though I haven't seen him in years, I will always remember his friendly wave. My condolences!

Audrey and Family....I'm so sorry. Grandpa was a great man. I loved coming to mass and seeing him as he was always ready to talk baseball (Phillies) with us. I will miss seeing him. Please know he lives on through all of you. When you smile, he will be smiling too! God Bless.

Mr. Pagano had a quiet, but profound affect on all his students. My sincerest prayers that his family celebrates his life with the fondest, lovingest memories, knowing that his legacy also consists of the thousands of students who benefitted from observing his example of calm, caring assessment and fair, swift solution of even the most difficult issues. May his quiet and strong persona enjoy eternal peace....T. Shupin (Brick Intermediate School class of '68)

I remembr Mr. Pagano as the principal in my school in Brick from about 35 years ago. He was such a wonderful and pleasant man, and one of the principals that was a "student favorite". I hope you take comfort in knowing that he touched so many lives. So sorry for his passing and for your loss.
