Donald Wahlberg peacefully passed away at his home, on Thursday, October 30th.
Donald was admired and well-respected as an attorney and as Yuba County Municipal Court Judge. In 1973, he and his family located to Yuba County from Southern California, where he practiced criminal law as a private attorney in Pasadena. It was in 1973; Donald was hired to the Yuba County District Attorney's office. While he was Deputy District Attorney, he made national news in the trial and the prosecution of a Corey Schroeder who had violently murdered his wife. The trial was moved to Santa Rosa. Due to the extreme publicity in Marysville because it was such a heinous crime, the defense attorney requested a change of venue. It was the very first murder conviction in Yuba County in over thirty years. Judge Wahlberg was appointed to the bench in 1977. The following years he served as Judge and later in private practice, he retired in 2010. Donald was the idea man and the catalyst, along with several other area attorneys who established the now, Cal Northern School of Law in Chico, California. Don's background has always been in law and criminal justice. He graduated from USC and Southwestern School of Law in Los Angeles. He attended law school while working as a police officer for the Los Angeles Police Department, Hollywood Division. He started as a beat cop, worked the Los Angeles Watts Riots in 1965, and then went from a beat cop to the Hollywood Vice Squad. Before the Police Department, he served as a Sergeant in the Marine Corp.
Donald's father, Dr. Donald Karl Wahlberg, his mother, Blanche Carpenter Wahlberg, and his son, Karl William Wahlberg, preceded him in death.
Donald leaves behind a legacy of love and admiration from his family.
He will be greatly missed by his family; his son Donald Wahlberg, Jr., his son Scott Wahlberg, his daughter Stacy Fletcher and her husband Adam, his son Kenny Wahlberg and his wife Stephanie, and his adopted daughter Vanessa Webb and her husband, Tony; along with fifteen grandchildren.
Donald will be honored at a private family memorial service.

I don't get the paper anymore so I had no idea. I am so sorry Mr Wahlberg was my attorney and friend he was a great man! There was nothing like seeing him fight a case in the courtroom. He was in command of the room and he truly fought for his clients in court, something you don't see everyday. Again I am very sorry he will definitely be missed.

Yes, bigger than life he was. Respected for his accomplishments, his ideals, his integrity, his fairness, his compassion for others, his encouragement and wise and trusted counsel, his volunteer work, and yes, his humor. A true friend for many years. A lasting, positive, imprint on many lives, including mine and my family's. We are blessed to have shared some memorable times with him. My thoughts and prayers to his family and loved ones, especially Stacy, Kenny, Donnie, Scott, Vanessa, my friend Robbin, and their families.

My condolences to the family. As a Sheriff's Deputy I testified numerous times with Don presiding as Judge. Regardless of the verdict I always felt Don was fair and unbiased. He had a great sense of humor and was a good man and friend.
