August 23, 2010

Saturday, after a long drive home from work I was suddenly held up by a sheriffs deputy on Ironwood.
As I sat there impatient whining about the delay I noticed the hold up was due to a sea of cars coming North on Ironwood, lights on, driving slow.
Then it hit me as to why.
Sometimes we lose sight of the most precious things in our lives in an effort to only see what is in front of us.
As a parent of a little girl who has had numerous health and disability issues I dread the day if I should ever have to say goodbye to her so early.
I remember when she was born I asked God, why me? Now it is why not me?
I have come to realize I need my little girl more than she needs me. Perfect in Gods eyes.
I am sure you see Emma and Taylor the same way.
We cannot explain some things that happen on this earth because they can only be explained in heaven. You will see Emma and Taylor again and I am sure they will be holding hands in their inseperable way when they greet you.
It was an honor to be inconvenienced on Saturday. In fact it was a blessing.
May you feel the spirit and comfort of our savior during this difficult time and may you never lose sight of what is around you.

There is nothing anyone can say that will help much right now. Just know that hundreds of people are sharing your pain. God gave these special little girls to special parents. Please allow your process to proceed by feeling the feelings: cry when you need to and laugh when you can. Try to remember the happy times. I will remember you and your darlings in my daily prayers.

God saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around you and whispered "come with me". With tearful eyes, I watched you and saw you pass away. Although i loved you dearly, i could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest. God broke my heart to prove to me, he only takes the BEST...

Briefly met your wonderful family at the airport two Sundays ago. I was harried and hurrying for my plane and remembered thinking how graciously you were handling the inquiries from TSA, the stress of two little girls and their very very busy little brother, and how sweet the girls were...an obvious sign of great parenting. Your grace and calmness reminded me that day to slow down and enjoy life. I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss.

I'll lend you, for a little time, a children of mine, he said. For you to love while they live, and mourn when their dead. It may be six or seven years, or twenty-two or three, But will you, till I call them home, take care of them for me? They'll bring their charms to gladden you, And shall their stay be brief, You'll have their lovely memories as solace for your grief. I cannot promise they will stay,
since all from earth return. But there are lessons taught down there I want these children to learn. I've looked the wide world over in my search for teachers true. And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes, I have selected you. Now will you give them all your love, Nor think the labor vain, Nor hate me when I come to call,
Or take them back again? I fancied that I heard them say, Dear Lord, Thy will be done. For all the joy these children shall bring, the risk of grief we'll run. We'll shelter them with tenderness, we'll love them while we may; And for the happiness we've known, forever grateful stay. But shall the angels call for them much sooner than we planned, We'll brave the bitter grief that comes. And try to understand.

"It is the will of God and nature that these mortal bodies be laid aside when the soul is to enter into real life. This is rather an embryo state - a preparation for living.
A man is not completely born until he is dead."
- Benjamin Franklin
(written to his niece upon the death of his brother, her stepfather)

Tor, Mandy and Family,
Knowing the stock from which you came from tells me that you will be okay. Maybe not today, nor tonight. . . but soon. You have been blessed beyond your comprehension; I know you can't possibly fathom this right now. Emma & Taylor completed their work here. They and their six other siblings await you with perfected bodies.
I wish you only the greatest strength and love to keep getting up every day, leaving sorrow for the night, in your room, on your knees, because that is where you will find succor.
I've poured my heart out to our Heavenly Father on the Bailey's behalf. . . may you all reap the benefits.
Lovingly,

Lisa
