Curtis Bartle Obituary

Bartle, Curtis
Curtis Bartle, 81, of Cave Creek, Arizona passed away on Jan. 25, 2012 at his home. We say good-bye to him after a long and courageous fight with chronic illnesses. Curtis was born in Elgin, Illinois to Orville and Jeanette Bartle on August 28, 1930. He was the second son of three boys. Curtis attended school in Maple Park, Illinois, graduating in 1949. After graduating, Curtis joined the USAF and served from 1951-1955. Moving back to Illinois, Curtis became a deputy for Kane County where he accomplished having the merit system changed and also bringing home many trophies for his sharp shooting. Curt is had the "Roar of a Lion" and compassion of a child. Curt never met a stranger he didn't like. Everyone that knew him would remember him by his quick wit, with a sense of humor and charm. In 1968, Curtis married Mary Miller of St. Charles and brought together Curt's three children, Beverly, Keli and Curt with Mary's two children, Jeannie and Cindy. They were then blessed with another child, Roger to complete the new family. While living in Illinois, Curtis also did various security jobs on his off duty hours. He also enjoyed managing the Bungalow at Bob Jo's Speedway. In 1977, the family moved to Arizona where they have lived in Cave Creek for the past 35 years. He worked security at St. Lukes Hospital and then for Sunbird Security in Carefree, until he retired. He operated his own business, Bartle Janitorial for over 15 years. Curt's love was his family first then fly fishing, hunting, camping, his garden and flowers. But most of all the joy of his family being together. He is survived by his loving wife, Mary of 44 years, his children - Beverly (Peter DeFalco) of Phoenix, Keli Cunningham of Spokane, Curtis Bartle of Spokane, Jeannie Sites ( Bradley Larch) of Cave Creek, Cindy (Rusty Metcalfe) of Carefree and Roger Bartle (Yvette) of Hawaii, and his brother Dale Bartle (Armine) of Ventura, California. He leaves behind 8 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He was preceded by his parents, Orville and Jeanette Bartle, step-father Herbert and brother Charles Bartle. The family thanks Hospice of the Valley for their tremendous help and support, esp. Julie Axon and Samantha Deetz. A family grave side service will be held at the Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Hospice of the Valley, 5111 N. Scottsdale Rd., Suite 108, Scottsdale, Arizona 85250.

Uncle Curt, I'm sure that when you passed through those pearly gates, you were telling jokes, patting people on the back and leaving those angels smiling! You will be missed greatly but I will forever carry with me the sound of you cheering me on at a softball game and that smile of yours. Rest in peace. Love, Jodi, Bryan and Matt

To the entire Bartle family,
Although it has been several years since I last spoke with Curt, I am quickly reminded of our friendship. May the pain of his passing be quickly replaced by memories of a life well lived
