A half dozen of EB class of '52 get together once a year. A few years ago we met at my wife's and my home in Roseville. I had known Johnny from his days in business in Sacramento. I called and invited Johnny- always Johnny to the EB crowd- to come as my Mystery Guest. The crowd included Bob Ginn, Gordon Harper, Jim Ross, Bruce Shore, Bob Rogers and spouses. Before he got there we had a 20 questions as to whom the guest was. Bruce Shore guessed correctly. I don't think there was a prize. Johnny, with Bonnie of course, was the hit of the party. The few Jocks in our group remembered well his exploits. He was a great guy and you were fortunate, Bonnie, to have had him for a long time. Best regards, Don Shaw

The first job I ever had was watering John and Bonnie's yard and sweeping their long front walkway. My mom and dad (John and Mary Lou Hawkins) spent many hours laughing and having a grand time with them. John was a very nice and funny man. I'm sure he is deeply missed.

John was my General Manager at KROY and as I would find out later, few were as good as he was. A good man, a family man...

We were friends a long time ago. John was the pride of EBHS. I knew Leah and the younger sister and remember Daryl as a baby.
He had a successful long life and may he rest in peace.

John, as General Manaager was my "Boss" at KROY/KROI. One could not find a better Boss and a better man. He cared for his work, and the folks that worked for/with him. "General" John was truly a gentleman, and wonderful person.

John and I were friends from the early days of High School and continued our relationship into our career and early family lives. I am proud to have been the one to introduce John to the broadcasting business. John was a good man and a good friend. May
