Both the LaConto's (Betty & Bob) were great friends of my parents and I am so sorry to hear of Betty's passing. I send my best thoughts to the Laconto family. She will be missed
Your mom/grandmother and I taught 1st grade together back in 1985 at Tyler School. It was my second year of teaching and I had never taught first grade before. I was so nervous! She was a wonderful teacher, mentor and friend. She shared so many important suggestions about teaching and her guidance is some of what made me the teacher I am today. I can still see her smile and hear her laugh. She was a very special person and I will never forget her or her influence on me. You have my deepest sympathies. I hope your memories bring you peace.
What an honor to have worked with Betty. She had a great sense of humor and the couarge of her convictions to do what was right for the children of DeKalb. Her legacy will live on in the hearts and minds of her many students. I am sorry for your loss.
Our children were fortunate in having Betty and Donna Bennett for full days of kindergarten. Betty was a wonderful, caring, sensitive teacher with a lovely sense of humor. We were sad to read the news of her passing.

Mrs. LaCanto was my First Grade Teacher in 1981. She drew us birthday cakes in chalk on our special day, introduced us to Leo Lionni and fostered our love for learning. She was a great influence on my decision to become a teacher. She holds a special place in my heart.
