Please accept my deepest sympathies and prayers.
My sincere condolences to the Hickey family. My father, Marvin O'Neal, worked with Ron Hickey in Fallon, Nevada from 1971-1972. Although I was only nine years old at the time, I remember Ron as being a very kind and generous person. It is amazing that I still remember his personality from 43 years ago! I'll be the first to mention that Ron was a VERY avid and accomplished chess player. My father was also a very good chess player and loved to talk trash--especially when he played and beat me time and time again. Even though I only beat my father once, it was always fun to watch Ron put him in his place on the chessboard! Lol! I will never forget the many visits at Ron's house where we often ended up playing chess. He gave me many pointers and even gave me a few of his chess books to take with me when my father relocated to Columbus, OH. The world was definitely a better place because of Ron.
P.S. I live in Taiwan, but decided to use my mother's hometown since there is no way to enter "Taiwan" as either a city or state. :)
My thoughts and prayers are with the family. Ronnie and I "ran around together" while students at Erie Cathedral Prep and I remember him fondly. Bob Fitzmaurice, Clearfield, PA
Dear Hickey family:
Ron was truly a treasure to work with. Donna & Mark, his Unisys colleagues have captured the essence of the person I knew. As a customer I always appreciated his work ethic, honesty, perspective, and dry wit. Working with Ron was always a pleasure. May the many good memories of Ron as husband, father, grandfather, and father-in-law comfort you in the days ahead. Ron and his family will be in my thoughts and prayers at Sunday mass.
Ron and I worked together for many years in Virginia. He was an inspiration and a great colleague. So sorry he is gone.
I was privileged to work with Ron at Unisys for almost 10 years. I am so sorry to hear of his passing. He was a very kind man who was willing to share his knowledge with anyone and was an inspiration to all who worked with him.
Speaking on behalf of many of his colleagues at Unisys in Arlington Virginia, Ron always brought serious energy to his work but also an almost playful curiosity and creativity that inspired the best efforts of the entire team. He seemed happiest when he came to a way to solve a challenge that would enable others to accomplish things they didn't know they could do. He set an example of tenacity and refusal to take the path of least resistance when it was the wrong thing to do. Those with insight knew we were lucky to know him and work with him and our customers recognized their good fortune to have a team that he led to achievements that often exceeded any reasonable expectation. For me personally, I am grateful for his warm friendship and professional mentorship.
I was so sorry to hear of Ron's passing. He was so kind and helpful to me when I started to work at H & R Block. He was a lot of fun and really enjoyed the challenge of his work. He loved his chess and billiards, and enjoyed explaining the fine points of his game. I will miss him.
I was saddened to hear of Ron's passing. He was a very kind and caring person. His family are in my thoughts and prayers.
I am so sorry for your loss!! You guys are in my thoughts and prayers. May your memories bring you comfort.
May the light of God surround you, the love of God enfold you, the power of God protect you, and the presence of God watch over each of you during your time of sorrow. ~ H&R Block
