I was so sorry to read about this in the Messenger Journal. Tim was my student at PHS and I greatly enjoyed knowing him. He was intelligent, sincere and good-hearted. God bless.
Jim, so sorry to hear of your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
Tim was my first friend at St. Matthews I met him in kindergarten or first grade and although it was many years ago I still remember him fondly.
I will never forget the wonderful memories I have with the Ortyl family. My thoughts and players go out to you and your family.
May God bless and strengthen you in this time.
Tim's high school locker was near mine - everyday we would say hello and talk to each other - he always had a positive uplifting spirit. I too, went to OSU - he was someone I always enjoyed speaking with because he was so intelligent and had insight beyond his years- he had an old soul. I am so sad for this loss, certainly he was one that made this world a better place while being in it. Although sincere and deep condolences can not erase this loss - remembering how he was extraordinary while he lived is something to celebrate. He certainly used his gifts to contribute them toward a better world.
Jim, Joy and Jamie,
So sorry for your loss. Sending our thoughts and prayers. Emily Stich Stephens

thoughts and prayers to the Ortyl family during this period of loss and grief
You will always live in our hearts and prayers.
Although I never met Tim, I am one of the co-editors of The Sociological Quarterly and was impressed with his intelligence and professionalism. Tim wrote an exceptionally interesting article for TSQ and I am personally sad that we won't see more of his work.
