He was mmy mentor, role model, and a second father. He inspired me from the moment I stepped on the Roanoke campus until now. I am a better man because of him. May God's perpetual light shine on Coach. +
He is home now... Remembering a great man, an advisor, a mentor to all and me
COACH BAST'S DEATH IS A MOST DEVESTATING LOSS FOR MYSELF AND AM CERTAIN LOTS OF OTHERS WHO ADRMIRED HIM FOR THE GREAT PERSON HE WAS. DURING MY TIME AT THE COLLEGE HE WAS MY HISTORY PROFESSOR AND COACH IN TRACK AND CROSS COUNTRY BUT MORE THAN ANYTHING HE WAS A MENTOR FOR ME AND FILLED A NEED OF DESPERATION FOR A FATHER SINCE MY OWN HAD DIED BEFORE I EVEN KNEW HIM. COACH BAST WAS ONE OF THE GREATEST HUMAN BEINGS IT HAS BEEN MY PLEASURE TO HAVE KNOWN AND THE WORLD WAS FORTUNATE FOR HIS EXISTENCE. MY DEEPEST SYMPATHY AND THOUGHTS FOR ALL HIS FAMILY.
