Dear Schertz Family- I can't begin to imagine,I am still in disbelief. Dr Schertz was my Oncologist 2002-2003. Such a brilliant and good Man. I trusted him with my life and I'm so glad that I did.I loved hearing his stories of places he had traveled and planned to travel, etc. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
Gerry was an incredible man. My Great-Aunt was under his care years ago. He will be deeply missed.
My thoughts and prayers will you all at this time.
My heart goes out to you for the unexpected death of Dr. Schertz. He has been my oncologist since 1997, and I greatly admired him. I will miss his kindness, the excellent treatment he gave me, and his fond words about Floyd County.
I met Dr. Schertz April 2002 when my late husband was diagnosed with Nonhodgkins Lyhmphoma. Dr. Schertz was a compassionate Dr. and worked endlessly trying to cure him. After he died Dr. Schertz gave me a hug and said if you ever need me I will be here for you.
I am so sorry for your loss but know that Dr. Schertz will be missed by so many of his friends & patients.
It was an honor to know him and I pray that the Good Lord will give you & your family comfort during this time.
