In the fragrant fall of whispering rain
The Unspoken Voice, I heard my name...
And rising softly in morning dew
I soared up there, my spirit renewed
To far beyond and through the opened door
The Prince of Peace and the end of war.

To Dad,

You took me in as your own son and gave me more than I could ever have asked for - unconditionally. This song was one of your very favorites; so is it mine to this very day. I love you, Dad. Thank you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fBwuquxfgGs

A simple obituary for an unassuming gentleman who believed that, “One could always be polite and kind.” He was Chief of Surgery at Ralph H. Johnson VA Medical Center and Associate Professor with the Department of Surgery at the Medical University of South Carolina. In addition, he was a member of the American College of Surgeons and contributed fifteen publications to professional journals. The VAMC cancer program received American Cancer Society Commission on Cancer accreditation with commendation for many years because of John Allison's dedication to and oversight of the program. He took great pride in being a surveyor for the certifying organization and traveled throughout the United States in the role. Rest in peace, John Allison. You have taught us so much and have enriched our lives for knowing you. Diane Milligan, former Surgical Clinical Coordinator for RHJ VAMC (retired nurse)

Dr. Allison was the best boss anyone could ask for. He always pushed me to be my best and if it wasn't for his support and encouragement, I wouldn't be where I am today with my career. He will truly be missed.
