12 days ago I lost my wonderful, very dear brother, Leonard. Since learning of his death, I am filled with sorrow... and many happy memories, which include our growing-up years, his time as a POW and our years as adults.
There were 4 of us...3 girls and Leonard. We teased him, and he teased us! He was known to us, in his younger years, as "Sonny". But in grade school he became known as Leonard.
Leonard and my husband, Jack, had a great respect for one another. They enjoyed one another's company, having great conversations when together on the west coast or east coast.
I am forever thankful for Leonard's visit to NH in 2012. His time with us included a day trip along the NH coast; meals at "The Backroom"...Leonard's new favorite restaurant; lunch and visit with Maureen Van Horn, the widow of Leonard's childhood friend, Ralph; attending a memorial service and burial of Barbara, our oldest sister, in Worcester, MA; and the highlight...a great surprise family gathering in Concord, planned and hosted by his nieces, Pam and Barbie.
What a celebration!! What memories!!
Rest in peace, Leonard. Love, Gen
