So sorry to hear of Jake's passing. I have so many fond memories of him. He was such a good friend to my father (Marlyn)... I know dad will miss him dearly. I can remember from my very youngest days how Jake would welcome my brother and I into his office when we'd stop in to see our dad... as I grew up, Jake always took time to say hello and show an interest in me. He had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh. I'm grateful for his presence in and influence on my family's life. You are in my prayers... praying that Jesus would comfort you as you mourn his passing and celebrate a life well-lived.

All the Eglseder families are so sorry to hear of the passing of Jamie's Grandfather & Debbie's Father. Jamie talked of him often with great respect & Doug also thought of him as a great guy. They will miss him. But the "Zane" name lives on in Dillion also.

I am Jake's 2nd cousin, in California. I had the pleasure of meeting him, Ken Zane, and Elvin Zane when I visited in Sept 2007. Ken, Jake and I visited the graves of their grandfather, Frank Zane; our great grandmother, Susan Morrison (Suzannah Miller Zane Morrison); our great great grandparents, David and Mary Miller; and other family graves too. It was a pleasure connecting with my Illinois cousins, and discussing family tree stuff (i.e. no, we're not descended from Isaac and Myeerah, but rather from Isaac's brother, Andrew.) I am including a photo of Jake--at least I THINK it's Jake!--standing by the gravestone of David Miller.

I enjoyed "Mr. Zane's" kind, gentle nature and humor during the several years we were both employed at EIU in the 1970s. We all looked forward to his frequent, brief visits to our office as he was always a ray of sunshine and laughter! What a good man he was!! With deepest sympathies...

Wilma, Julie and Debbie,
We would like to express our deep sorrow over losing a truly great friend. Jake was one of a kind and will be greatly missed by both of us. Let him rest in peace with the Angels. We are thinking of you in love and prayer. Linda and Dave
