Mom was the guiding light to my career. She never told me what to do, but told me I could be anything I wanted to be. It never occurred to me that I couldn't be a doctor or surgeon. I was surprised when my chemistry and calculus classes were only 5% female, and that med school had so few female students. I was fortunate that the University of Illinois had some of the first female department chiefs and full professors in surgery and ENT for guidance. Thanks Mom for never doubting that I could do this. I remember best Aunt Marlie's sweet and patient nature. She always had a book handy, but would readily put it aside to engage with and give advice and guidance to her Niagara Falls nieces and nephews. We loved her sense of humor, and we'll miss her very much. Love, Robbie and Larry

Searched the internet today and found this lovely tribute to Aunt Marlie. Wasn't she just beautiful? I remember that picture in Grandma & Grandpa's living room. We will miss her. Love, Judy
