While I only knew Ralph for a few short years his love for A&M and his zest for life changed mine.

He was the kind of person who you just felt you had known forever from the first time you met him.

His love and dedication for A&M and for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences will live on through the generations of young people whose lives he has touched.

Ralph personified the long, tall Texan and more--a gentleman. Not many remain; he could teach a graduate course on it. We laughed a lot, a whole lot when he lived in Tifton,Georgia. We were like brothers over the age of 21 with cars, a little money and free spirits--quite a combination. We all lost a fine person. I continue to grieve. I wish I could be half the person Ralph is.

Ralph is going to be missed. I loved traveling the world with both of you - what fun times we had. He was a very special person and I am honored to have gotten to know him and share such special memories during our fun Traveling Aggies trips. Whenever I saw that the Wards were signed up for a trip I knew we were in for a fun time. I will miss Ralph alot. Cathy - we hope you continue to travel with us. I know Ralph would want that and we love you!

We met Ralph and Cathy on a Travelin' Aggies trip and subsequently took several trips together. While in a fancy hotel on the Canadian Rockies tour, we had given our names and were waiting to be seated. The waiter came out and asked for the Montgomery-Ward party. Ralph was quick to point out that we were waiting for JC (Penney).
From that day on we became the Montgomery-Wards. We are blessed to have such special memories of Ralph.

Of the many wonderful things I remember about there are two which stand out in my mind. The first would be playing football with him. Ralph played quarterback and I played wingback. When we got into the huddle Ralph would becone nervous and unable to call a play so the coach, Ken Jones, annointed me to call the plays. In later years Ralph and I joked that we would have had a good team but all the passes and all the running plays were to the wingback(me).
The other series of events that come to mind is related to new cars that arrived at our auto dealership.
When a hot new car came in I would call Ralph and he and I would would take the car out for a quality check. I particularly remember a new Olds 442 that Ralph and I tried out and are lucky that we did not kill ourselves as fast as we drove it.
Finally, if you remember we could get a drivers license when we were 14 years old and a beginners license when we were 13 years old (with a licensed driver). I got my beginners license when I was 13 and Ralph was my licensed driver since he was born about 6 months before me. It is a frightening thought contemplating the two of us driving at 13 and 14 years old.
