Of the many wonderful things I remember about there are two which stand out in my mind. The first would be playing football with him. Ralph played quarterback and I played wingback. When we got into the huddle Ralph would becone nervous and unable to call a play so the coach, Ken Jones, annointed me to call the plays. In later years Ralph and I joked that we would have had a good team but all the passes and all the running plays were to the wingback(me).
The other series of events that come to mind is related to new cars that arrived at our auto dealership.
When a hot new car came in I would call Ralph and he and I would would take the car out for a quality check. I particularly remember a new Olds 442 that Ralph and I tried out and are lucky that we did not kill ourselves as fast as we drove it.
Finally, if you remember we could get a drivers license when we were 14 years old and a beginners license when we were 13 years old (with a licensed driver). I got my beginners license when I was 13 and Ralph was my licensed driver since he was born about 6 months before me. It is a frightening thought contemplating the two of us driving at 13 and 14 years old.

Dear Cathy: Though I didn't know Ralph for very many years, he was one of a kind! Great sense of humor and the same political views as me! He will be greatly missed for his kindness and his love of students as well as animals alike! God Bless you abundantly

Ralph will be dearly missed by all of his Aggie friends with the TAMU - College of Ag Development Council. During my leadership term on the Council, I will always remember how faithful & committed you and Ralph were about attending our meetings. A person might think that because Ralph was soft spoken, he might not be heard...but let me tell you, when Ralph spoke, the room silenced because people wanted to hear what he had to say. The reason for that is his humble nature and strong committment to supporting the mission of COADC...that of attracting financial resources to enhance educational programs and opportunities in the College of Ag and Life Sciences. In other words, he didn't just talk-the-talk...he engaged himself to provide a difference and opportunity for lots of young Aggies. I consider him a dear friend & mentor. Cathy, may you find comfort & healing from the Lord's Hands and in all the worderful memories. May he rest in peace. Amen.

I met Ralph about 25 years ago at the Rusk County Project Show, then some years later actually got to know him through his beloved dogs. Ralph always had a story to tell about the kids. He loved his animals.

Ralph was a good man, a true friend, an Aggies Aggie, and a devoted husband.

May God continue to give you the strength to carry on. I know that we will all get to see him again someday.

It still seems so unreal that Ralph is not with us any longer. It is true that it is not how many years you live, but how you live the years you are given by our Lord to live. Truly, Ralph lived his years to the fullest. As I told both of you, from the very beginning of our friendship, it was always as friends just talking about the needs of students and families. Know that we remember you as you begin a new life and wish you God's speed in all you do.

Your friends,

Pat and Sharon Taylor.
