I read Rick's obituary in the Plaquemines Gazette today and wanted to let you know my thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. His memories will live forever in your heart.
Mr. Callaway was my art teacher at East Jefferson. He truly was an inspiration to us all. He taught us all so much more than just art and I can say I felt privaledged to have had him as a teacher. He spoke highly of his family and he was just an awesome man. I am so sorry to hear he has passed but I feel as though we have gained a guardian angel in heaven. My condolences to his family... He was always so proud of you always. You all are very lucky to have had such a great person in your life. He will always be in my thoughts when I paint!
Mr. Callaway was a gem. Like many, I had the great privilege of having him as an art teacher at East Jefferson high school. The door to his classroom was always open, and his passion, charisma, and sense of humor were second to none. He will be missed by many former pupils and colleagues. My sincerest condolences to his family.
Rick Callaway was good friend and mentor to me when I started my teaching career in Jefferson Parish. He modeled in both passion and attitude how to be a good leader in the classroom and I continue to utilize the advice he gave me on a daily basis. My sincerest condolences go out to the family he spoke of so often with affection.
Uncle Rick- you mean so many things to so many different people, you were truly a person who lived for the moment and gave freely of yourself. Thank you for your generous spirit, your love, and your inspiration- we will miss you and love you always- DeeDee/ Donna Shepherd
