My sincere sympathy goes to the Mariner family in the loss of their wonderful Mother, Ruth....I did not know about Joe's passing in 2011.....I met them at the Virginia Beach First Church of the Nazarene years ago.....They were truly God's servants on this earth.....I'm sure my Mom and Dad, Elmer and Velma Byrum, were there to greet her and Joe as they entered those "Pearly Gates" of Heaven.....As we mourn our losses, there is a great reunion going on up there...God Bless the Mariner family...

I met Ruth and Joe Mariner at Va Beach First Church of the Nazarene in 1985. Ruth and I were involved in many activities at the church. She always exemplified the fruits of the spirit. She was always kind and compassionate. I will miss her dearly.

Dear family, i worked with Ruth for many years at the Supply center. She was sich a nice lady. I still make a sweet potato casserole that she gave me the recipe for in the 1980's and i think of her every time i make it. Heaven has a wonderful angel. God bless you all.

Dear Mariner Family,

Our family is truly saddened by the loss of Ms. Ruth. Such a wonderful friend, support and confidant to my grandmother. Ms. Ruth was such great fun with her wit and love of good conversation. Ms. Ruth's energy was contagious and inviting. I would be remiss in not mentioning her apple cake that my family loved and adored. The recipe was in high demand among the Jackson, Charity women. One could go on about the greatness of Ms. Ruth, a woman that wore so many hats and did so many things. The obituary crafted in many ways said it all and was simply beautiful. It was its own testimony to her wonderful spirit and such accomplishment.

Celebrating Ms. Ruth's life and memory today, our long time family friend will be so very missed. Prayers and thoughts are with Ms. Deborah, Mr. Douglas, Mr. Joey and Ms. Esther. We love you all.

Love,
Bev-Freda
