I finally got to view the video of Bill's Celebration of Life service today. I was not able to attend the service as I had hoped to be able to do because of a sick brother-in-law who is undergoing chemotherapy. If it had not been for those family responsibilities, I would have been there. I am so glad I got to see the service online and to hear the wonderful tributes from all who spoke, especially John Fletcher and Bill's sons and daughter. What lovely tributes they were and they filled in for me another side of Bill's life that meant so much to him...his family and the special relationships you all had with your father. He was proud of you and I often heard him speak of you when we shared a few days together after we reconnected. You saw in him the same thing that we, his friends saw...a man of superior intelligence, a deep thinker, a lover of nature, a respecter of the environment and admirer of the beauty around him that others often take for granted. Your dad was a great cook, as you know, and he cooked some great food for us when we got together. There wasn't a Publix there but we made several trips to the Piggly Wiggly grocery store to get the elements of our meal. He traveled with his garlic press and extra virgin olive oil and that impressed my wife. We had some fun times in high school on field trips to St. Augustine and our senior class trip to Daytona Beach. It was so much fun reconnecting with him at class reunions and at our friend's beach house in South Carolina. He was a dear friend and I will miss our times together. As with you though, he might not be present in the body with us but his memory will always be with us and I am thankful for that.

Saddened by the passing of Bill. He was always a pleasure to be around and the leader of our class of 58'. I always respected Bill for the person he was and the friendship he showed everyone. I only talked to Bill during our class reunions over the years but always looked forward to seeing him. To the family, lean closer to God at the most difficult time for comfort and peace.

I remember Bill from Lake Wales High where we were both members of the first Baseball Championship team. But more than that, I remember him from Vanderbilt University. It was there that he was one of the main reasons I became a KA and one of his fraternity brothers. We shared a room one semester in the old KA house. My only regret is that we lost track of each other since then. It is my loss and I'm very sorry to hear of his passing.

I am stunned to hear of Bill's passing, as I talked with him last Friday the 20th. I only met face to face with Bill one time about two months ago along with our mutual friend, Hal Reid, as we met to have lunch together. The three of us shared same kinds of cancers and it seems to be a bond that grows very fast between friends who know something of each others challenges. Bill was encouraging to me and I was very hopeful of his having a longer time with us but we don't know God's schedule.
My condolences to all the family and wish that I had know Bill longer.
