William Dewitt Robinson

October 16, 1929 - April 7, 2014


William D Robinson, age 84 of Texarkana, AR died Monday April 7, 2014 at home after a long struggle with Parkinson's disease. Dr. Robinson was born October 16, 1929 in the community of Danville, LA. Dr. Bill was a member of Beech Street First Baptist church, a member of the choir and a deacon. Dr. Bill as he was called by all, graduated from Washington University in St Louis, MO with a degree in business and finance. After serving in the Army in payroll, he decided business was not for him. He then went to the University of Illinois Medical School in Chicago where he graduated in 1959. Dr. Bill completed his internship and Internal Medicine residency in Washington, DC at DC General hospital. It was there that he met his wife, Ruth, and was married in 1961. In 1963, he moved to Texarkana to take a position at Southern Clinic. His love for his patients kept him working for over 45 years until his health necessitated his retirement in 2004. He was predeceased by his brother, Kenneth Robinson. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Ruth. He is survived by six children: Dr. Mark Robinson and wife, Beth of Rogers, AR, Dr. Brent Robinson and wife, Kristi of Texarkana, TX, Lauren Howington and husband, Dan of Albuquerque, NM, David Robinson and wife, Holley of Texarkana, TX, Kristen Robinson of Texarkana, AR and Mary Pritchard and husband Bobby of Texarkana, AR. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Michael Pritchard, Garrett Howington, Blake Howington, Kasey Howington, Matthew Pritchard, Natalie Robinson, Caroline Robinson and Andrew Pritchard. He is survived by 2 sisters, Nell Lynch and husband Ed and Myrna Muirhead, both of Houston, TX Funeral services will be held at Beech Street First Baptist Church on Sunday April 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm, with pastor Craig Jenkins officiating. Following the service interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park under the direction of Texarkana funeral home 4801 Parkway Dr Texarkana, Arkansas. Visitation will be at Beech Street First Baptist Church on Saturday evening April 12, 2014 at 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm.
