PETERSON, RAYMOND W. Bay City, MI Mr. Peterson passed away Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at his residence at the age of 80. The son of the late Charles and Alice (Kotajarvi) Peterson was born August 13, 1933 in Schoolcraft Township, Houghton County, MI. He was a member of St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church. Mr. Peterson was employed at Defoe Ship Building Co. and then went on to work and retire from Grey Iron Foundry. Mr. Peterson was a member of U.A.W Local #668. He enjoyed using his millwright abilities to make any part he needed to fix things; he also enjoyed working on cars, engines and going fishing. He is survived by his wife, the former Elizabeth A. Smith, whom he married in 1961. Also surviving are his children and their spouses; Deborah and Roger Tews of New London, WI, Cheryl and Roger Motter Lansing, MI, Karen and Martin Zalucha of Rock Hills, SC; nine grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Robert Peterson, Alicemae Meyer and Charles Peterson; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by one brother, Arthur Peterson. A Memorial Service will take place Monday, September 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church. Officiating will be Rev. Paul E. Schaewe. At Mr. Peterson's request, cremation has taken place. The family will be present on Sunday from 2-6 PM at the Gephart Funeral Home, Inc. to receive family and friends and at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
