To the Rose family, your mom was a beautiful example of God's goodness and grace. I enjoyed so many conversations with her in the neighborhood over the course of two decades. She was a lovely lady and a gentle soul. I will miss her very very much.

To the Rose Family,
I am sorry for the Loss of Your Mom. No one can tell us what that feeling is like till we lose our own mother.
Your Mom was such a special Woman.I wish that we could go back to the Days of growing up in Dorcheswhen when everyone knew & trusted each other. Growing up with neighbors like Your Mom made our lives special.I was very fortunate to have had the chance to visit your Mom shortly before her death. She still had such a Positive attitude & was still thanking God for giving her such a Wonderful Life. I will always remember your Mom.

My wife and I had the good fortune of moving into our first home in a triple decker on Bakersfield Street. Sometimes when you move around in a city you never feel quite at home like where you came from. All that changed for us given the 7 years we spent with Mrs. Rose as our neighbor. Our lives changed, we had two children, and we were always loved and welcomed by her, and our children loved Mrs. Rose. On a warm spring day, with the windows open, you could hear Mrs. Rose coming down the street and we would rush outside to share a moment with her. She made us feel like we were home. We were part of a neighborhood and a community. We returned every halloween to see her after we left, our 4 year old never, ever, forgot her, her kindness, her love. She was a bright light that shined every day in our lives, it is a light we keep with us and warms now and forever. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

In loving memory of Gertrude Rose -- an absolutely lovely woman, my aunt's neighbor who I remember so fondly from my childhood as the very kind lady who gave the BEST Halloween candy bags and was always so sweet to everyone. I've only seen
her a few times since my childhood, most recently at a family birthday party. But she was one of those people who quietly made everyone else life better and when you talked to her it's like no time had passed. She had so many friends, this fixture of a Dorchester neighborhood who had so much kindness for everyone. She raised a wonderful family and made a difference. Rest in peace Mrs. Rose. We loved you so much, and we will miss you.

Our little corner of Bakersfield Street will never be the same. No matter how our day was, Mrs. Rose always knew how to bring a smile to our faces. Whether just to say hello or give us a friendly update on the weather. We will miss you dearly. The neighborhood has such a silence now.
All our best to the Rose family.

When words are difficult, perhaps a poem: An autumn rose, so slowly it opens
The bud grows, unnoticed in fall coloring and the chill.
The swelling of peddles, gradually each day, opening unhurriedly into constant fullness.
She, dear Barbara, was like that beautiful fall rose, so very rare in the autumn chill, so tender to those who noticed, so very precious in a world like ours.
From lovely, to consuming beauty, she is in her last season.
Words like flowers, reassuring touch, generous gaze.
Her fragrance lasts and lasts.
Calmly deliberately gently, gradually unhurriedly, she goes on her way.
-Love and affection to Gertrude Crewe Rose, Barbara, Doug and family,

Mrs. Rose, will be sorely missed. She made everyone she met, feel special.
She embodied and practiced the philosophy of, "treat others, as you would be treated". She is a good soul.

If I could tell the world my thoughts, one of them would be
What luck is mine to have met you and the gifts you've offered me
They are too precious just to keep unless I too might share
So I'd like to tell the world how glad we are that you were here.
You taught us things and some might say sorta easy yes to know
But you didn't say I'll tell you, we watched your actions show
Today and every other day you took the time to be
A beauty most unforgettable to someone such as me
If I should live for years to come I know I'll gladly say
I've known someone who's helped me to live a better day
And yes, of all the things I do enjoy, LOVE just tops the list
And Rudy with your heart so full, you've shown LOVE's THE BEST
