Funny how this Legacy.com reminder popped into my e-mail this morning as I was just thinking about Mr. Z this past Saturday. At 68, I´m having my own set of back issues, unable to stand straight or walk for any length of time and my mind went straight to Mr. Z and his ramrod straight posture together with his daily walks through the mall to keep himself fit. Even after all these years, he´s still my hero for good back health and I still hope that I, too, with the help of my spinal cord stimulator and physical therapy, will one day be strolling my neighborhood daily just like Mr. Z. Strolled the mall. God bless him. He will remain the best attorney I ever worked with. I hope your family is doing well.

Dear Zimmerman Family,
My condolences to all of you on the passing of a genuine gentleman. When my dad, Jim Duggan, made the decision not to drive Mr. Zimmerman often volunteered to chauffeur him to their monthly lunches downtown. How we appreciated his care and concern for one we so dearly loved. I will keep you all in my prayers.

Zimmerman Family,
I only met Mr. Zimmerman in the waning years of our Dad's life but they had apparently been friends through the legal community for many years. When Dad went into assistive living late in 2005 one of the first persons to contact him was Mr. Zimmerman. Always a call just to say "hello" seemed to make Dad's day just that much brighter. Monthly, Mr. Zimmerman would arrange to pick Dad up and take him to the "lawyers' lunch" a treat that kept Dad in the fraternal loop. Always I recall Dad putting on a clean shirt and tie because Mr. Zimmerman would be dressed "to the nines". Truly a gentleman's gentleman he was a godsend to Dad and our family. Dad died in 2010 at the ripe old age of 97 but he took with him many fond memories of a man who took time to bring happiness to his life. My condolences to those of you fortunate enough to have known George Zimmerman dearly.

Dear Helen and family,
I have read 3 pages of entries in the guest book regarding George and I have to concur with all of the descriptions of George, I knew George since my 1st year in law school. He epitomized the definition of a gentlemen, always kind, courteous, friendly and with a warm smile. As an attorney, he was a true scholar and willing to help a colleague. I wish you and your family strength at this difficult time and am sure that the many fond memories that you have of George will be of great solace.
Cordially,
Vic Silverstein

Dear Mrs. Zimmermann and family,
I am so sorry to hear of the death of Mr. Zimmermann. We were neighbors on Lafayette Avenue for a long time. I still remember summers when the Shores visited you and walking on Lafayette in the evening with "Grandma" Zimmermann. Even though I haven't lived in Buffalo in many years, my brother Kevin keeps me posted about events in the city. Please know that you are all in my thoughts and prayers. Susan Burke (597 Lafayette)

Please accept my deepest sympathies. I had George as a law professor and later worked with him at Albrecht Maguire. My office was next to his for a period of time and I frequently asked him for advice on how to handle particular situations. I would ask him if he had a minute and he would always reply: "sure, come on in to my private office." He would always take the time to understand the situation and would often provide input I had not thought of. He was always kind, polite and a model of professionalism. He was an exceptional lawyer and an even better person. He will be greatly missed.

Words cannot sufficiently express how much I'm going to miss running into Mr. Z on his way to the Mid-Day Club. I still remember the years I worked for him as the best years I spent as a legal assistant! He was a great guy and a true gentleman and I know the Good Lord already has a special office set up for him in Heaven, but we'll always miss his easy-going manner and ready smile down here. God Bless Mrs. Z and the entire family and prayers for all.
