Dad,(George) touched so many lives and I thank you all for your kind words. I have fond memories of going to Renfrew Park and watching him call a game, and the fans would know it was my dad and heckle him even more.
He had three grandsons who will miss him dearly as he was their biggest fan in all sports.

I am sure all the folks who worked here at Standen's will cherish the great times we enjoyed with George. His skills at golf, hockey and other sports were outstanding. His sense of humor would always bring laughter and he was forever setting us up for a joke of some sort. In the years we worked together he often spoke of his children and was very proud of them. Our condolences go out to all the family

I was sad to hear of Uncle George's death. I have some great memories of our family times together, including the year Mom, Paddy and I lived with your mom and dad at 2911 Rae Street in Regina, Saturday afternoons in Calgary watching wrestling (while Aunt Shirl made doughnuts!), and of course, the music. My thoughts are with you.

George was well known for his softball umpiring and the help he gave others over the years. I sent the obituary info to Softball Canada and they sent it to all the members who knew George and that is a lot of people. I have gotten many replies from umpires who extend their condolences to the family. My own message is in the guest book Stan Hay Calgary

Sorry to hear about George passing away. His Uncle Ed (93) is my dad, and lives with us. He was only telling us tonight about how, when George had just started going to school, he was the mascot for the Scott Collegiate High School basketball team. He would carry the basketball, leading the team onto the court and then try to shoot a basket. The odd time he would SCORE! The team were all very fond of him. George was also a very talented piano player and could play anything by ear. Dad was very fond of George but had lost touch in recent years and would love to hear from any family member. Gloria?

Sorry to hear about George. I am his cousin, Lorraine Ledgard, and my Dad, who lives with us, (his Uncle Ed, age 93) is the youngest of the Davies family. Tonight, Dad was just telling me about how George was the mascot for Dad's basketball team at Scott Collegiate High School. George had just started school then. He would carry the basketball to the court, leading the team, and then try and shoot a basket. The odd time HE WOULD SCORE! The team was very fond of the little guy. His dad, Fred Rayment, came out from London, England, and married my dad's sister, "Peg" (Hannah Davies). What a coincidence that I "Googled" his name tonight. Dad, (his Uncle Ed) was very close to him, but lost contact in recent years.
Gloria - could you contact us, please?
