My condolences to the family of Doug Crotts. I just saw his obituary posted by a classmate on a Garinger (Class of '76) facebook page. I was in Mr. Crotts' world history class my sophomore year. I remember him giving me a plant - it is still in my parent's yard. You may also be interested to know that I took a CLEP test before attending ASU and qualified for an exemption of all history classes.
I realize it has been some months since Mr. Crotts' passing, but your family is in my prayers - that God will continue to comfort and strengthen you.
His best to you & yours,
Lynn Steverson Dunn

My condolences to the Crotts family. Mr Crotts was my History Teacher at Silk Hope High School. I saw my first TV at his home about 1950 when he invited our class to his home for a party.

Eugenia and Family:
It was my honor to have the opportunity of knowing this great man and words cannot express my sincere regret over your loss.
I hope the simple words of the Scottish-Canadian poet, W.W. Campbell, provide you with some solace during this difficult time. "To live in the hearts of those we leave behind is not to die." May Doug's spirit and the wonderful memories you have of him continue to live within your hearts.

Eugenia and family: Glad to talk with you Satuday, sorry it was under such sad circumstances.
Doug deserved all the laurels due a patriotic hero for his distinguished service to our Country. I left Siler City soon after WW II and have only gone back at intervals to visit family, but I am now the only sibling left, so the visits are seldom.
Doug was indeed a patriotic hero and a great American. While I served in Europe in a combat infantry outfit and was awarded a Combat Infantry Badge, two Purple Hearts, a Bronze Star and a French citation for the Normandy Campaigh, my service paled when compared to Doug's distinguihed service. As I approach 87 years I treasure the fond memories associated with growing up in the Siler City community and the opprtunity of knowing folks like your and Doug's fine families. I'm glad you passed my way.
With love and every good wish to your family and sincere best wishes for continued health and prosperity.

My condolences to the family. Mr. Ed Crotts has been a colleague for 7 years, and I have come to know and admire both him and his wife. I know he admired and was inspired by his father, so I know he will be missed.

Dear Crotts family,
Please allow me to offer a most sincere apology regarding my recent comments in The Charlotte Observer Guest Book. Perhaps I can chalk it up to bad memory after fifty years plus not double checking "The Acorn", our Harding High School annual. Of course, Mr. Crotts was my Civics teacher...one whose expertise exhibited to his students the nuts and bolts of U.S. government and what is involved to enable democracy to run like a well-oiled machine. There were numerous occasions when I shared the day's class comments with my dad for discussion. Mr. Crotts was a professional fixture at HHS for a number of years, and I consider myself one of the fortunate students to have had the benefit of his knowledge.

My deepest sympathies to the family.
Mr. Crotts was my "Civics" teacher over 50 years ago at Harding High. I remember him to this day. What a wonderful man.
I was blessed to know him.

Dear Crotts Family,
Allow me to extend my sympathy to all of you. After reading the obit, I see that Mr. Crotts lived a long, full. rich life..rich in all areas which are deemed most meaningful. You are indeed fortunate to have had him in your lives all these years. May your grief be eased with the knowledge of the good man Douglas Crotts was and what he meant to many of us throughout the years.
I am a former Harding High School student who had the pleasure of taking driver education under Mr. Crotts. I certainly feel like speaking for the majority here in that Mr. Crotts made an indelible impression on this former 16-year old who took the steering wheel for the very first time...that was half a century ago!!! Mr. Crotts was such a calming influence and imparted such accurate information to educate us novice drivers. He gave to me guidelines which I've driven by all these years and am currently imparting on my 16-year old grandson. I have always greatly appreciated his expertise and teaching methods....this is from one teacher to another.
