Hello,
We wanted to let your family and friends know that we are sending Care Packages to deployed troops this week and some of these will be dedicated to your loved one. Each package will carry the name, photo and hometown of Jose A. Torre US Army Specialist.

We realize that this is a small tribute, but we do this with all respect and sincerity and we want you to know that it is made possible by thousands of like-minded individuals from across the American youth hockey community, their families and friends and others who support our mission.

We will not forget. May God Bless you and keep you safe and strong.

Sincerely,
Charlie Gili & Family

SPC Torre
I never knew you and unfortunately, the only way I got to know of you is because of the tragedy that took you from us. However, I will honor you on 15 January 2012 as I run a full marathon with your name on my back. I will get asked if I knew you and my response will be "No, but he gave his life fighting for you, so please remember him."
I will carry you for these 26.2 miles and God will carry you through eternity. Rest In Peace Soldier....

Jose, you are a very special person. I'll never forget the fun times we had in my class. You are bright, kind, funny, and tough. I remember one time you had broken your finger (I think in wrestling) and it was no big deal for you. I thought "wow, this guy is tough!". Thank you for serving our country. I will miss you. God bless you and your family.

Jose,

I will forever miss you and your outgoing personality. There are so many memories that I will forever hold in my heart. Even while you were going through so much over in Iraq, you never let it get you down and still managed to cheer me up when I was going through something less important. I don't know what I am going to do this semester in school without you. You have been the only person who could actually get me to relax and not be so stressed. I always admired how you lived your life. You have given the ultimate sacrifice and I humbly thank you for that. You will live forever in my heart. My prayers and thoughts are with your family right now. Miss you friend!

Love,
Laura Hodgens

My heart is sad at your loss, but eternally grateful for your sacrifice. Without you young men and women today, and all of the soldiers from our past, we would not enjoy the freedom that is unique to our great country. Thank you, and your family for your ultimate sacrifice. God bless you and keep you, you and your family.

May you fly on the wings of eagles.

Jose was like a little brother to me, no he is my brother. I've known him since I became friends with his older brother in elementary school. I have so many memories of him in my childhood, making trouble with my younger brother, birthday ,parties water balloon fights..... I now carry on my life as an infantryman in the U.S. Army with those memories and the calling is stronger now than ever. He is more than just a fallen brother in arms. I love you Jose, though I can't see you or hug you, throw back a bottle with you, you will live on in my heart and memories forever. Rest in peace brother, I know you'll watch over me as I continue the mission.

I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. My thoughts and prayers are with you always. Jose will never be forgotten.

For you every single soldier
Those who served so honorable
Your life was forever altered
While I’m home safe and free
I stand with grateful admiration
I stand respectful and so proud
I know I’m only a civilian
And I don’t even know if it’s allowed

But I salute you; allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
Even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
My humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.

I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.

I salute you .

I am the sister of such a young hero, who paid the Ultimate Price in Vietnam, many years ago.

The Final Salute

“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.

This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to our Brother-in-Arms, SPC Jose Torre. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Jose. And to Jose it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the ultimate sacrifice he made for his country while deployed with the U.S. Army in Iraq. No greater love is shown than a man lay down his life for another. Jose, you are a brave American Warrior, a true Patriot and a national Hero. With your passing, our Country has lost a National Treasure. We bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at ease. Rest in Peace.

On behalf of the 1,341 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion in Shreveport, Louisiana, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Jose’s family and loved ones.
