I feel so deeply sad hearing of the news of General Conti and Mrs. (Dottie) Conti's passing. He was not only my boss for a short time but he was also my friend at GATX for a very, very long time. I am so so sorry that I was not informed of his passing as I would have, in person, said good-bye to a great, great man. General Conti, you were loved, you were respected and you were just the greatest. My sympathy to all the family.

Mike, and Conti family,
I am sorry to hear about the passing of your mom and dad. Mike, my parents would sit next to your dad at mass these past years and comment on his devotion to your mom. I remember fondly your mom as I visited in your home as a boy. I was not lucky enough to meet your dad.
Condolences,

I am very sorry to find that my dad's dear friends, Lou and Dorothy have passed. I tried Lou's cell yesterday, as it was the 8th anniversary of my Dad, Jim Calvetti's passing. Lou and I talked frequently leading up to my dad's death, he and Dottie were kind to drive oout and go to lunch with Dad. Lou gave a beautiful tribute to Jim at his funeral-was of great comfort to me- and I'm sorry to see that he has passed. He truly was a great man! Sincerely,

Lou had a deep effect on my life. I spoke to him about all of my important life decisions and always received clear and unbiased advice.
Lou's family has always been very welcoming and kind. I consider myself lucky to have met them. I offer my most heartfelt condolences for both Lou and Dottie. They leave behind such a strong family group I know the remaining Conti clan will make their Mom and Dad proud. Tell me anything I can do.

To the Conti clan. Lou and Dottie will long be remembered with fondness by all of the Itins..We always considered them both our guiding lights. Lou was my coach, confidant and mentor. Like so many whose lives Lou and Dottie touched..we are forever grateful.. Lou's "Dear Cornell" was always in his mind and actions.. A "giver" never a "taker" We miss you both.
With our love
Tom and Shirley Itin and family.

The passing of General Conti is a great loss to our country and his family. He was truly a warrior, a mentor and leader in all aspects of his life. May you find peace in knowing he is in a better place with his beloved wife.
We are sorry we are unable to express our condolences in person; however, we are currently in California.

My husband and I were so sorry to hear of Mr. Conti's passing away and so close to Mrs. Conti's passing. I (Kathy) worked for him at GATX for only a few years after Pat Buus left. Every time I came to work at 8:30, his stogy cigar would have been almost smoked since he arrived at work at 7. What a smart and ambitious man who loved his family. All the best to you all.

I had the opportunity to get to know the General by assisting in driving him to the Glenview Marines monthly luncheons. He reminded me of one of the Patriachs of the Greatest Generation that brought us through WWII, Korea and laid the base for the growth of the Marine Corps Reserve. He excelled in all that he did; Family, Corps and Business. He is now back full time watching over us all.
