John J., Jr., beloved husband of Therese Benken (nee Connor), loving father of Kara (Matthew) Garrod, Krista (B. Thayne, Jr.) Bedenkop and Kathryn Benken, dear grandfather of Rowan Bedenkop, Ava and Madalyn Garrod, brother of Virginia Benken, Barbara (Ron) Wimprine, Mary Benken-McCauley and Dorothy (Denis) Zahner, also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins. Monday, May 30, 2011, age 66. Visitation at St. James of the Valley Church, 411 Springfield Pike, Wyoming, Friday from 11 a.m. until time of Mass of Christian burial at 1 p.m. John was a retired firefighter from the City of Cincinnati and retired Fire Chief from the City of Wyoming. We share your sadness over John's passing; he was a wonderful man. I especially remember the time he responded to my wife's call to the fire department, and climbed on our roof to rescue our cat, Tia.
