Allyn was a wonderful person, husband, soldier, nurse and most of all the most proud daddy in the world. He loved his baby girls and their momma. I am proud to have known him and think that I am a better person for it. I met him at Nursing school in Texas and we worked at Walter Reed together. I am so proud to have known him and he will be remembered fondly.

Allyn was a great and caring man and good friend. I had the pleasure of serving with him at Ft. Sam during nursing school. He was one of the best at what he did there taking care of others. An unselfish man he worked hard and also knew how to relax and spend time with his family and friends. He will be missed by many.

Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace;
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
And where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
Grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled as to console;
To be understood, as to understand;
To be loved, as to love;
For it is in giving that we receive,
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
And it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen

I got to Allyn before he re-enlisted in the service. I am so sorry that he made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. But at the same time I am extremely proud of who Allyn was and that he was willing to return to the service. It is what makes America the country that it is, that we have wonderful people like Allyn who answer the call. He has truly made an impact on my life.

To the parents and family, I want you to know that you are not alone in the grief you are feeling. I know only too well what you are going through and what you will go through in the coming weeks and months ahead. You will have many questions as to why? You will have many things to get ready or go through and that should be done in time. Sometimes it just can’t be faced and that’s ok, for you will know when the time is right for you. There is no right or wrong way to grieve. Grief is an individual journey, that unfortunately like my own self you now have to travel. It doesn’t matter how they died but how they lived that we should focus on. We know that each one in our military joined to make a difference in their own lives and to serve their country. Please know that each one no matter what is an American Hero and to be honored always and forever. I ask that God give the comfort, strength and courage that you are going to need. When and if the time is right for you please contact me. You can cry, vent, or just talk as only another person who has been where you are can really know what you are going through. May God continue to hold your hand as He gives comfort to you today and for the rest of your life.

The soldier stood and faced his God
which must always come to pass
He hoped his shoes were shining, just as brightly as his brass.
"Step forward now, you soldier. How shall I deal with you?
Have you always turned the other cheek?
To My Church have you been true?"
The soldier squared his shoulders and said,
"No Lord, I guess I ain't
Because those of us who carry guns, can't always be a saint.
I've had to work most Sundays, and at times my talk was tough,
And sometimes I've been violent
because the streets are awfully rough.
But, I never took a penny, that wasn't mine to keep...
Though I worked a lot of overtime,
when the bills just got too steep.
And I never passed a cry for help, though at times
I shook with fear
And sometimes, God forgive me, I've wept unmanly tears
I know I don't deserve a place, among the people here
They never wanted me around, except to calm their fears.
If you've a place for me here, Lord, it needn't be so grand
I never expected or had too much,
but if you don't I'll understand."
There was silence all around the throne,
where the saint's had often trod
As the soldier waited quietly, for the judgement of his God.
"Step forward now you soldier, you've borne your burdens well,
Walk peacefully on Heaven's street,
you've done your time in Hell."

To the Walters Family,
I know there are no words to say at this time, except how sorry that I am. I truly feel your loss and pain. Richard shall never be forgotten. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
For those missing in action;
for those who didn’t make it home.
I know you’re in God’s presence you are not alone.
For every neatly folded flag;
for every shattered family
I will do the only thing I know to dignify your memory.
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you .
Every second you sacrificed
I hold you in my prayers.
So with one hand on my heart and the other in the air;
I salute you, allow me the honor
to salute you with permission let me say
even though I hold no rank know that from my heart
my humble gratitude comes from the deepest part.
I salute you.

The Final Salute
“Brothers in Arms”, Military men and women down through the centuries, have traditionally exchanged “Hand Salutes” as a sign of recognition and as a way to render courtesy and respect one to another.
This “Hand Salute” is the last that we shall render to Spc. Richard A. Walters our Brother in Arms. To his family it symbolizes the love and respect that we have for Richard. And to Richard it is rendered as a symbol of honor and gratitude to thank him for the devoted and selfless service he rendered to his country during the Global War on Terrorism while stationed in Kuwait with the U.S. Army. Richard, we bid you a sad farewell. You will be dearly missed from among our ranks. Be at Ease. Rest in Peace.
On behalf of the 1,355 members of Lowe-McFarlane Post 14 of the American Legion, I extend our sympathies and our condolences to Richard’s family and loved ones.

Follow The Rainbow To Heaven.
=======================================
A Soldier had die out on the
battlefield;
Broken hearts are weeping For
Them,
But take comfort of knowing
that God had sent Them a
rainbow from heaven;
The Souls of the Soldiers
have gone to there home
in heaven,
Our Loved One's has follow
God's lovely rainbow in the
sky;
All the way to the end of the
sky.
That leads all the way to the
other end of the Lord's
house in heaven,
So just keep on praying and
trust that God will send us
that same rainbow in the sky;
Where Our Loved One's are
waiting For You and For Me at
the end of the rainbow in
heaven.
