George Livingston is one of our family heroes. I have always taken pride in mentioning to others that my first cousin is the first black elected Mayor of Richmond Ca. We will miss him while cherishing his memory and life accomplishments to the benefit of generations to come.

I pray that over time, fond memories will replace the grief you must be feeling. Mayor Livingston paved the way for many others in the area and was a good friend to our family. Pam Spearman

My sincere condolences to the Livingston family. George was my hero when I decided to run for City Council in San Pablo. His shared his contacts and supported me. He also taught me how to play golf and gave me my first golf club, a putter. With his support i went on to win election in 1990 which resulted in my being the first black female elected to any City Council in the County of Contra Costa. George was good for the City of Richmond and the greater West Contra Costa County. He accomplished many things while serving as Mayor...we will miss him very much.

My condolences to the Livingston family. I have known Mayor Livingston for many years and feel priviledged to have called him my friend. As a city councilman and former Chairman of the Oklahoma Parole Board, he always made me feel very welcome when visiting the city of Richmond. Mayor, you will be greatly missed.

In 1984, Mayor Livingston told me to pay no attention to the rumor that there would never be a black Stationary Engineer in the city of Richmond and I didn't. I will remember this gentle giants words forever--Sayonara my mentor!

George Livingston was Mayor during the time period the Richmond Police Commission was established. He was a dedicated public servant and a natural leader. He worked to heal and restore police/community relationships, at a critial time in the history of the City of Richmond. May God comfort and strengthen the Livingston family during this time of bereavement.

An Uncle who - with his personality, love for people, common decency, hard work and well earned success, inspired all his nieces and nephews. He "hooked me up" with my first professional job following college - with Wells Fargo Bank where I went on to become a Vice President. We will miss you Uncle George!

George Livingston was a huge piece of my childhood. He was kind, gental, always had time and time to listen. We, (Bianco's)"grew up" with him in our lives. Many elections later, and more political dinners than I can remember.George still had time to answer my calls at his desk in the Mayors office with a enthusiastic "hello Gary" and then asking me what he could do for me..He even introduced me to George Foreman...I will always remember that among other things like the 1971 Richmond City Council election...George was Richmond,he was our "family friend" and would do and did anything for us and all others..My Father loved him and that's all I'll ever need.As my "book" comes to the 50 year mark,I can say that George Livingston" is part of it's lore..He will be someone I tell stories about along with Mrs.Livingston marking my tires..He always gave me a hug, called my family out by their first names and had that smile that told you he was a "sweet heart" of a man....History has lost one more piece in Richmond but George will never be forgotten.
