LANCUCKA Sister Severine Lancucka, 100, died Saturday December 3rd at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent Monroe. Sister Severine, the former Eleanore Lancucka, was the eighth of eleven children born to Constantine and Alexandra (Wisniewska) Lancucki. Sister grew up in Maspeth, New York and attended the parish elementary school. It was here at Holy Cross School that Eleanor met the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Upon graduation from eighth grade, Sister Severine entered Nazareth Academy in Torresdale, PA and upon graduation entered the Congregation of the Sisters of the Holy Family of Nazareth. Sister earned a BA degree in Theology from Manhattan College and was then assigned to teach at St. Stanislaus Kostka School, Brooklyn, NY. Sister went on to teach at Our Lady of Czestochowa School, Philadelphia, PA; St. Stanislaus, New Haven, CT; St Joseph School, Lincoln Park and St. Stephen School, Paterson, NJ; St. Joseph School, Ansonia, CT; Holy Trinity School, Utica, NY and Our Lady of Czestochowa School, Brooklyn, NY. Sister retired from the classroom in 1983 but continued to serve as convent sacristan until 2001 when Sister Severine retired and subsequently moved to Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent, Monroe, CT. On September 12, 2011 surrounded by many of her family members, Sister Seventine celebrated her 100th birthday. Sister is survived by her nieces Aurelia Arpino, Evelyn Glibowska, Arlene Jezykowski, Arlene Kershaw and Dolores Przybysz; her nephews Lawrence Lancucki, Frank Kwapniewski and Richard Lancucki; numerous great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday December 7th at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Convent, Monroe. Interment will follow in the Holy Family Cemetery on the Convent grounds. Visiting hours will be held Tuesday December 6th from 3:00 to 5:00 PM at the Convent. DEAR SISTER SEVERINA,
EVEN THOUGH I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WELL PERSONALLY EVERYONE FOR GENERATIONS KNOWS YOUR NAME. YOU WERE ALWAYS SPOKEN OF THROUGHOUT OURS LIVES. OUR AUNT WHO WAS IN THE CONVENT. YOU LIVED THE LONGEST FROM ANYONE IN THE FAMILY. EVEN THOUGH YOUR MOM LIVED IN THE 90'S YOU WERE HERE A LITTLE LONGER. YOUR SISTER, MY GRANDMOTHER NAMED MY MOM AFTER YOU. THAT WAS ONE THING SHE WAS ALWAYS VERY PROUD OF. MY MOTHER LEFT THIS EARTH ONLY 6 WEEKS PRIOR TO YOUR PASSING. I'M SURE SHE WAS SURPRISED BUT HAPPY WHEN SHE WELCOME YOU INTO HEAVEN.
