Hi Alex,
Im so sorry your gone, buddy. The horrific events in Aurora, CO left me shellshocked and outraged. It was one of the worst post-9/11 tragedies.
And by coincidence, we share same name. Rest peacefully with the ones who died with you.

Please accept my sincere prayers that go out to the surviving family and friends may the God of comfort continue to bless you and yours especially after such a tragic loss. Please accept my deepest sympathies. (2 Cor. 1:2, 3).

Going to a Batman movie at midnight is something my own family would do. We're all fans of superhero movies. I was shocked and saddened when I heard the news about the shooting. Alex especially stood out to me because of sharing the same surname. When I saw his picture I thought he looks like he could be a nephew or cousin. I am so saddened by the loss you all must bear.

While it is too soon to hear this, please remember that Alex knows that you love him and he would want you to be able to smile and laugh. It's not an insult to his memory to find enjoyment in life. He'd want the best for you just like you've always wanted the best for him.

Dear Sullivan Family,
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Alex sounds like a blessing, not only to your family, but to this world. I'm so glad that you are honoring his life by sharing your beautiful memories. The night after the shooting, my 10 y.o. son said to me, "I need to write to Alex Sullivan's family". I asked him why Alex (since we have never met your family). He said, "I need to let them know that Alex still loves them." When I asked him why he thought that, he said, "I just know this Mom and I need to tell them." My son did write your family a letter although I'm unsure where to send it. So I just wanted you to know...
God bless you.

To the Sullivan Family, Of course we were all saddened by the events in Aurora Co but then it even brought more sadness hearing that Alex was one of those life's taken so unjustly. The boys (Lee and Chris) have very fond memories of the years we lived by your family on Prentice Drive. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. From the sounds of all the comments Alex grew up to be a wonderful, happy man as we certainly remember him. Take care of each other and remember you have a special angel in heaven watching over all of you. Fred, Sue, Lee, Christopher, and Ryan Kortus

I went to Grandview with Alex and was greatly saddened to hear of his passing. Having not seen him since high school, when I first heard the tragic news, the first image to pop into my head was of Alex's wonderful smile. I think there are few people in this world who are known by their smile and happy comportment -- Alex is one of those prized few. To say he will be greatly missed is an understatement. Though Alex's life was short, he made a positive impact on my life and those of everyone with whom he came in contact.

To his family and his wife, Cassie, I hope you can take comfort in knowing you have been blessed with knowing an incredible guy and can share in laughter at the memories of all your good times together. Alex's life may have be short but was definitely well-lived. May you all be blessed by his loving, watchful eye from above.

And to Alex -- We'll miss you!

To the entire extended Sullivan family, from all the entries in this guestbook you can tell that Alex will be missed and you are in the thoughts/prayers of the entire world.

I used to see Tom every Wednesday, for a short time, while helping to feed the comic book habit he shared with Alex, and I was fortunate enough to have met Alex once or twice over the past couple years. Alex was always smiling and brimming over with enthusiasm even when his favorite characters seemed to be getting the shaft in the current storylines. I may not have known him well, but I understood him and know he will be missed.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of Alex's family, friends and loved ones. I had the privilege of working with Alex at The Club at Pradera. We had a running joke about who made the best breakfast burritos-him or me. I let him win. He was a big, burly, hulk of a man, who was really like a big teddy bear. He always had a huge smile and some kind of wise crack ready at hand. You couldn't help but laugh with him when he bellowed out that raucous laughter of his--it was contagious. I am greatful to have shared a short time with him and I will miss him. Thank you to his family for sharing your wonderful son with the world, even if for only a short time--too short. Rest peacefully and sweetly in the hollow of God's hand until we meet again.

Alex, years ago when you were in high school still we worked together. I remember you being one of the happiest people in the world. You were always upbeat and some how, some way, you always managed to put a smile on everyone's face no matter what kind of mood they were in especially me. I remember the times our group would get together to go to the movies and you always went with us. Almost everytime we went you did your impression of Sloth from Goonies which always made every single one of us laugh. I'm sorry I didn't stay in contact after you left. The couple of times I seen you after that though it was like we had just seen each other yesterday.

To Alex's parents, what an amazing person you raised. He is truly one in a million. He is going to be missed. I truly wish I had seen him recently before he left this earth too soon.

RIP Alex. It's not goodbye, I'll see you later. I know you'll be waiting for every single person you came across in your short life.

Goonies Forever.

Alex was a student of mine when he was in middle school. I saw him a few times while he was working at Sonic when he was in high school. Alex was always Alex - a big guy with a bright and happy smile. He always brought a light into the room! I am so saddened by his passing. I always thought that he would be a special person in this world and I think that he was, just by being himself.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family. I can't imagine walking in your steps right now. Remember the good times and the good stories. Alex will walk by your sides forever.

To Alex Sullivan's family & friends,
I am one of many people through out the world who are praying for you today and will continue to do so in days to come. I read that your beloved Alex was truly a friend for life. What a treasure when so many large cities experience transient populations! I also noted that on occasion he served as a bartender. That is a profession that I truly respect...puts multitasking to the test with customers, serving staff and kitchen expectations. From what is in print Alex was a master who could transition those skills if and when he chose.
No one can fathom the loss that is unique to each of you.
I choose to commit the name of Alex Sullivan to any observances & memories of July 20. May peace be with you

We met Alex at the Movie Tavern. We used to laugh and joke with him on Friday nights. He was a wonderful young man! A son to be proud of. One Friday when Angry Birds was the new thing I got a red one out of the claw game for my husband as a joke and Alex asked if he could have it and we gave it to him. We are keeping you in our prayers. Know that Alex touched many lives and he will be remembered.

Dear Alex and his family -

To Alex and his family -

I am so grateful that I can read through the words that people have written about Alex and know that they are true. I witnessed his infectious smile and positive attitude almost daily for several years. Not only did I work with Alex in the training room during all of his athletic endeavors, but I was Alex's science teacher for two years at Grandview.

I used to own a St. Bernard that I would bring to practices, or have visit the classroom and Alex LOVED that dog. I always felt like they were connected - both big, happy and easy going. Whenever I showed up at school with Bos, Alex was close behind hoping he could pet him or just spend time with us.

As a bereaved parent myself, I wish I had words for you, his family... special, magical words that would help you heal, or words that could ease your pain for just only a brief second, but I know that they do not exist.

My wish for you is that as you read through these tributes, may you remember what an impact he had on others and what a special purpose his life had.

My life was impacted by Alex, and I am grateful for the lessons he taught me.

Rest in peace Alex -

My heart is so heavy for you. I was grieving my own child that I lost 27 years ago on July 20, 1985, until I heard of this tragedy. When. I saw how incredibly beautiful he would have become and then my heart hurt again for your Alex. But, I did get to live the joy of my son through your Alex. Thank you for that and I will for ever be touched to you by knowing that our babies somehow shared that day as angels. God Bless You and I'm so sorry.

July 25, 2012

I had known Alex since the 5th grade, when I first moved to Aurora. In standard Alex Sullivan fashion, he was one of the first people to talk to me on my first day at school which, when you're ten and new to town, meant more to me than I unfortunately ever had the chance to tell him. Through middle school and high school, though we were never especially close, I could always rely on a warm greeting if we ever passed in the hall. He was always cheerful, with his large humor, in a way that, even if you barely knew him, made you feel silly for--and then less burdened by--your own, small anxieties. His endless sense of fun gave you better perspective on things. I wish we had been closer but I'm glad for having the honor of knowing him at all.

My deepest sympathies to Alex's friends and family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. I wish that you find some relief in Alex's memory and all those who miss him with you.

Dear Alex,

I can't even believe you're gone. I'll never forget your sweet smile always lighting up the training room at Grandview. You are truly one of the sweetest, kindest human beings I have ever known. Both my brother and I were devastated to learn that you were one of the victims. I know that you are in a better place now, but the world is now missing an amazing person. My thoughts are with you and your family, rest well big man and know that you are truly missed.

I remember Alex from high school. We were friends and he was bigger then me. I would always run up behind him and jump on his back, he would laugh and say " you are so crazy, how are things going" he was always nice and smiling, always interested in you and how you were doing. He was amazing, fun, kind, and everything you could wish for in a person and friend. I wished him happy birthday that morning.

Alex I love and miss you. I pray for you, your family, and your wife. You will always be missed. You are always my friend.

Sweet, sweet Alex is my best way to describe him. We are so sad about the world's loss. While we cannot understand this madness, our peace is in his last FB post, "... best birthday ever". As stories are told, heaven is the most beautiful place. Beautiful music, purest love is felt and all those before us are there welcome us.....best birthday ever.....probably true for Alex. God has enveloped Alex with his love. We will forever miss his presence.
Our best prayers to the Sullivan family in this difficult time.

I am so very sad that you were taken away from us so young. But just know that you made a footprint in my life, and I'm sure I'm not the only one. RIP Alex. I will forever remember you.

As the seconds, minutes, hours, and days go by seems like time doesn't slow down enough to mourn those we have lost. However, as time continues on you will continue on in the hearts of those that knew you for your smile, love, generosity, and every other great quality you had. You will be missed by many not only by those that knew you personally, but also by a community that has come together as one to say goodbye. The Angels have you now, and there are many very grateful to have you to watch over them. I'm glad I have the honor of saying I once knew an amazing person. May your soul rest in peace Alex. ?

I will never forget you as one of the sweetest guys to ever come into the Grandview High School Training Room. You were always so full of laughs and silliness. A true gentle Giant. I remember your sensitive nature and how you always gave your all to everything you did. When I got word that your beautiful life had been taken so needlessly, it sent chills and sadness to my core. Such a wonderful person with so much beauty to show the world was taken far sooner than I would have ever hoped. The impact that you should have been able to have on the world was meant to be so much more. The only piece of solace that I have is knowing that you are most definitely in a wonderful place far beyond this world. Your family and close friends are in my everyday thoughts and prayers. I pray that in the devastating loss that they are experiencing from missing you, that they will find a way go on with life and take all the beauty and love that you had to offer the world and spread that so much further. Alex, you will always be remembered as one of the sweetest, most thoughtful, and kindest Men that I have had the privilege of knowing! Knowing you made my life that much more complete! Rest in Peace knowing that in your life, your impact changed more lives than you can ever know! Thank you for changing mine! You will never be forgotten

Friday, I had not been watching the news, was busy all day, around the house, cleaning. Yet, something prompted me. My only son is named Alex. A feeling of angst came over me, not sure why, but all day while I was cleaning, this feeling stayed. I turned on the television around dinner about 8 pm, Central Daylight Time. After awhile, not too long, I saw Alex M. Sullivan's portrait. I can only say, I feel terribly for your loss. He is a great person, with us, his energy is in a higher place. Love, Lynn

Alex and I had many chats during his wrestling days at Grandview High School. My son, Jim was one of his team-mates now serving in the Air Force in Germany. He was shocked and saddened to hear the news as were we. I agree with the things I have heard and read about Alex. They were true of him even in high school. He had a "never quit" attitude that I admired. Jim Piper, Jr. on behalf of the whole Piper family

I will always remember Alex doing the yard work for us when we were working. It sounds as if you grew into a wonderful man and I know you will be sadly missed by your family.

To the Sullivan family,

I am very sorry for the loss of Alex. His genuine smile and innocent eyes are a tribute to his goodness. It is true what they say, big people have the best of hearts. It broke my heart to see you look for your son. Your picture will remain with me for a long time. I asked God to keep Alex alive, but he was already home. Every time I think if Alex or you, I cry because I can't understand this injustice of taking someone's life like that.

I also pray for his wife Cassandra, I hope she will realize with time that she has a strong and wonderful angel watching over her, forever.

To Alex,

I truly hope you are happy! Forever young, forever handsome, forever in the hearts of those who love you. Rest in peace with Jesus.
