Curtis Howard Obituary

1979 ~ 2012
Curtis Bryce Howard was born September 26, 1979. He passed away peacefully in his home surrounded by loved ones on June 2, 2012.
His fight with cancer and the challenges of its complications were well endured. His great love for his wife, Shannon, and his son, Tavner, was his motivation and strength.
Curtis Bryce never gave into the cancer, but left the pain behind to go to a better place. He is reunited with Grandpa Bell hiking and searching for waterfalls.
He grew up in West Jordan and graduated from Kearns High in 1998. He married Shannon Stamm on May 30, 2009.
He played hard and worked hard fixing anything with wheels, riding his dirt bike, welding creative gifts, and his favorite job, fighting wildland fires with Unified Fire Authority. He had many fond memories of hiking with Grandpa Bell and his cousin, friend, and partner in crime, Braxton Hall.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon; son, Tavner; parents, Sandy and Mike Paulsen and Curt and Lounita Howard; father and mother-in-law, Philip and Sharon Paro; siblings, Stephanie (Shane), Lydia (Steve), Shelly (Jeff), Landen (Emily), Lacey (Jason), Tawni, Mark (Summer), Chris, Dan, and Cody; 18 nieces and nephews, and counting; grandmothers, Helen Bell, LaRue Howard, and Jewel Paulsen.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, June 6, 2012, 12:30 p.m. at the LDS Oquirrh 4th Ward, 5208 West Cyclamen Way (6340 S.), West Jordan with a viewing at 11:00 a.m. Interment to follow at Bluffdale City Cemetery, 14175 South Redwood Road.

Shannon,
I was heartbroken to hear the news. I know at this point it won't make you feel any better, but try to remember how wonderful heaven is going to be for him- to be free of pain! I am so happy I had a chance to meet Curtis when he was a Wildland Firefighter for the UFA. He was kind and fun.

For Tavner, to lose a parent at such a young age is something a child should not have to endure. Be glad that you got to know your dad as much as you did and that you got to spend precious time with him and be there as he passed. May that give you strength and comfort as you grow into an adult.
