In 1950 I met Donald Saminie at BH Carrol elementary. He was a good friend and a very all around guy. We were in the same home room that first 6 years and I got to know his family, his sister, and develop a fondness for him. He was great. By 1957 his ability to play football began to shine and his years at Rosemont were good as he was popular and a friend to all type students. In 1959 we moved on to High School and although we now had a different set of friends, he was always there with a wave and a smile.
Here we are today, 60 years later from those first days with the Principal Mr. Strain and our teacher Ms Pittman, and I have nothing but happpy memories of Don. In fact, today was the first day that I realized he was a junior. I can't ever remember him being called Donald Jr. around me. It proves a point that there is something we can all learn about each other even after 60 years.
My thoughts and sympathies go out to Don and his family in this time when thougths and prayers are needed most.

Thank you Linda for being the love of my friends life.

Dear Mr. Samanie, Julie and Tracey,
I just got the news today of Linda's passing. I enjoyed growing up with her as a second mom. She was always so fun to be with. All of my many memories with Linda make me smile. We should have listened to her when she told us laying out with baby oil or Crisco was a bad idea. Thank you all for sharing her with me. She was a blessing in my life. I pray for your strength during this difficult time.

Linda Samanie was simply a light in our lives. The memories of my years growing up attending North Davis would not be what they are if Linda Samanie hadn't been there too. Church family becomes just that-- family. And so our family grieves with yours, Samanies. All of my love-

Mr. Samanie, Julie, and Tracie - I am sorry to hear of the passing of your wife and Mom. She was such a sweet and kind lady. I remember spending summers swimming at the house and she was so sweet. While in college at UTA I would stop in the clinic and visit with her. Although I haven't seen her in many years, I will always have fond memories of Mrs. Samanie.

May God bless you.

Sincerely,

Drew Hudson
