Milburn Amy, age 61, died Monday, November 11, 2013 in Beaumont, TX. Services will be at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, November 13, 2013 at First United Methodist Church of Beaumont with Dr. Karen Doris and Rev. David Millner officiating. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, November 12, 2013 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home.
Mr. Amy was born on June 17, 1952 in Beaumont, TX to the late Milburn Oren Amy, Sr. and Theda Brinson Amy. He graduated from French High School and Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science in Music, majoring in voice and violin. Milburn was the youth director at First United Methodist Church for a number of years. He was an accomplished musician, who participated with the Beaumont Symphony, the Beaumont Civic Ballet, and the Beaumont Civic Opera and directed the Junior Forums Senior Citizens Choir, the Beauxs and Belles. He was a musical director of the Beaumont Junior Forum’s annual productions of “LUV” Follies and many other performances. He was also a director for Cargill productions, which traveled throughout the United States.
Survivors include his two brothers, James H. Amy and his wife Nelsalee of Pearland, TX and Peter Amy and his wife Sandy of Orange, TX. One sister, Barbara Amy of Beaumont, TX. Three nephews, Brandon Amy, Daniel Amy and Joshua Amy and three nieces, Rachael Amy, Emily Amy and Felicia Amy.
Memorials may be made to the First United Methodist Church of Beaumont, or to a charity of choice.
