It has been a year now since our beloved Addy Grace went home to be with her Heavenly Father. Our lives have never been the same, we still cry for her and wish we could talk to her and hear her wonderful laugh that we all remember. If we could only have one more day with her so we can tell her how much we love her! I pray that this next year of grieving gets easier for all of us that miss her so much, especially for my mom Del, my Aunt Lee & my cousin Michelle who is still mourning so deeply for her mom. Addy might be gone from this earthly place but she will never ever be FORGOTTEN!!!!!

I will long treasure the time that I was able to spend with Addie. It was truly my pleasure and delight to serve as her pastor.

Each and every month I would make the short trip to Addie's house to see her. Our visits had a predictable pattern. We would sit down at her kitchen table. Actually, I would sit down. Addie would serve a treat. Frequently we had a piece of chocolate cake with white frosting and a scoop of vanilla ice cream. This was accompanied by a cup of coffee or two. For some reason, my cup always had to be filled. Addie liked to “freshen it up” for me. As we enjoyed the treat, we would engage in lively conversation: about the world, about our families, and about our church. Our conversations were often punctuated by laughter. Addie had a great sense of humor. (I miss her smile and I miss her laugh!) Inevitably, the phone would ring. I would say something to the effect of, “That must be Michelle.” Most of the time I was right. Sooner or later, we got down to business. We went through a shut-in liturgy that I had developed years ago. We joined together in confessing our sins, and we heard the blessed words of absolution. We listened to the Word of God, and thought about what it meant for our lives. We said the Creed together and the Lord's Prayer. Before closing our service, we shared the Sacrament of the Altar.

No doubt about it, Addie was a woman of great faith. When I think of Addie two images come to mind. For the last decade or so of her life, Addie was on oxygen. It is not easy to live with COPD. But Addie did so with grace. She did so by the grace of God. When I think of Addie now, I am reminded of something that the Apostle Paul wrote to the Corinthians. Paul had been afflicted by a physical ailment of some sort. He told the Corinthians that he had pleaded with God on three different occasions to remove this thorn from his flesh. Instead, the Lord responded: “My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness." Paul finally accepted his condition with these words: “Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me.”

Addie lived by grace. After she passed away, I was reminded by Michelle that her mom made sure to always include her middle name when she made her signature: Addie GRACE Campbell, she wrote. She loved her middle name, and she treasured the priceless grace of her Savior.

The other lasting image I have of Addie is that of the piano sitting in her living room. Addie loved the hymns of faith that she had grown up singing. The saints of old put it this way: “The Lord is my strength and my song. He has become my salvation.” (See Exodus 15.) Addie would have said Amen to that!

I miss Addie. But, by the grace of God, we will see each other again.

So sorry for your loss. I know how close you were and how much time you spent caring for each other.
I think it is important to keep her in your heart and remember the good times. I remember her fun loving approach to life and admire her stubborn courage in surviving her illnesses. I think she would want us to live fully and love life, like she did.... Love to you, Susie

My first memory of Addie was in about 1973 right after the family first moved to St. Cloud. She would come to the high school at noon, and we would sit in her Buick LaSabre to eat our lunch. Later I learned that was so typical of the kind and loving mother that Addie was. She loved generously beyond her own family, and I am proud to be included as one of her many "loved ones." I will miss you Adeline Grace, but your loving spirit will stay forever in my heart.

I have many wonderful memories of my Aunt Addy, most of them at her home in St. Cloud. We always felt welcome there, and Aunt Addy had a way of making a kid feel special. We sat at her kitchen counter many times, indulging in hot fudge sundaes and birthday cake. I will miss her smile and that easy laugh of hers.

Thank you so much for sending me the memorial card with the sweet picture of Addy. It is something I will always treasure. It has been so heartwarming to read the many memories of Addy that have been shared in her guest book.
What a truly remarkable and greatly beloved woman. I am so glad that Courtney & I had the blessing of knowing her !!! Thank you, too, for your thoughtful & kind words to me. I always felt that my time spent with Addy was a gift. It is so apparent that Addy was a gift to so many others as well.
A life well lived !

I have many fond memories of Aunt Addy. We were always happy to visit her house in St. Cloud with Dad. We had lots of fun there and always felt welcome. There were many fun times but one that stands out is watching the “Miracle on Ice” gold medal game with Addy at that house. I will never forget her robust laugh. Wishing peace and strength to my cousins, Michelle & Jody, my aunts, Lee & Del, and all who are feeling her loss.

I have so many fond memories of my Aunt Addy. When we would visit as kids, my cousins were already grown and Addy had seen it all. Nothing got her flustered. I remember having just finished "Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory" and thinking it was a good idea to save gum by keeping it behind my ear. Of course it ended up deeply imbedded in my hair. Aunt Addy had peanut butter and ice cubes and carefully worked it out of my hair without cutting any...and without missing a bit of the conversation she was having with Dad the entire time. She and Uncle Jim and Dad also took us to Valleyfair and the "New Zoo" in one day. As a parent, now, I can't imagine a more exhausting way to spend the day. They just waited while we stood in line and went on rides. We also got to bounce around in the back of the old Country Squire station wagon which was as fun as the rides. Any visit that landed even remotely close to one of our birthdays would include a beautiful bakery cake. It was always fun and laid back.
Aunt Addy was sensitive and sensitive to others' feelings. She also had a big laugh and great sense of humor which is a godsend for sensitive people. She was so proud of her daughters and always spoke very well of them. She was thankful for her blessings.
We'll miss her very much. And we'll keep Michelle and Jody in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear family of Addie - I am sad to hear of our loss of one of the Albany family of my Grandmother Clara Fischer Jones - I am Evelyn Feia's daughter and met Addie when I was a very small girl - She and my mother were such good cousin friends - Know she is among the angels, my parents and daughter Carolee Sjodin as well. I know you are going through some painful times - I pray God wrap his arms around you and hold you, give you the ability to accept your loss and find His peace.

To Adi's family -- We're so sorry for your loss. I enjoyed discussing current events with Adi when we would go to her appointments on the Westside. She was also very proud of her girls, and so appreciative of all Michelle's help.
May you find peace and comfort in your memories of your mom. She will be missed.
