Jackie, when I met you at Lutheran hospital years ago and learned of your difficult teen years I remember thinking how glad I felt that you and Dean had each other. It seems that I was correct. May God and your memories carry you
through.

Dean was the first dear friend I made in Iowa. We met at Lake of Three Fires when he rented a boat to us. Carol and I rowed out to the center of the lake with a church member's daughter and realized that we really didn't know how to row. :) We really didn't know how we were going to get back to shore and as panic was setting in---Dean shows up in a motor boat to rescue us. We were embarrassed but Dean was such a gentleman about it. (He was a 7th grader and Carol and I were going into 8th.) He towed us to shore and never teased us. Well... not about being stranded on the lake! When we saw him at school in September he just smiled and we knew that Dean was indeed a friend. We had just moved from Texas and he helped introduce us to the school. He remained a dear friend. It was wonderful touching base throughout the years. Through marriages, children, relocations, etc... it warmed our hearts to catch up where we left off. Dean was a "heart tugger." I trusted him. He loved his family and was so proud of them. His charm, sense of humor, and friendship will always bring a smile as we remember him.

I am in such shock to hear of Deans passing. I grew up next door to Dean and the Harris family and I have such fond memories of all of them. Dean was always the 'prankster' of them all, there was never a dull moment on State Street because of him! My thoughts and prayers go out to you all and may God wrap you in his loving arms and fill you with comfort!
February 20, 2013
My heart breaks for the Harris family. For the last 15 years I've had the honor and privilege of knowing and working with Dean. When he walked into a room with that twinkle in his eye, you never knew what he was going to say or do, but it would most likely embarrass someone. That was part of his charm. He was more than a great friend and mentor to me, and will never be far from my thoughts. His words of wisdom and guidance will never be forgotten. Dean .... TWO!!!
February 20, 2013
I love you, I miss you deeply, I have countless happy and funny memories, so many memories and we had so many inside jokes that I may be talking to myself forever...Quack, quack, quack, quack, quack. It's teven tirty!

Dear Jackie, family and friends, sincere condolences. I had the pleasure of meeting Dean twelve years ago on the Driving Range at Devils Ridge and straight away was intrigued by his great sense of humor and his passion for life. I enjoyed his company so much that I introduced him to the golf group and it was not long before Dean was the life of the party.
We may all reminisce about his jokes and pranks and in some cases being able to laugh at himself. For me, I will always remember the man with a Big Heart and someone that I was glad to share many hours and rounds of golf with. I will miss you my friend. Rest in Peace.

To All the Family Members,
I am so sorry for your loss, and also sorry to say that our family and yours have not kept in touch as much as we could have.
60 years ago in a small rural Iowa town, we shared life almost as family, not just friends. Both the good times, and times of loss and sorrow we supported each other like family.
Now separated by miles, but not great distances, we should do all we can to continue that support for one another's families started by a generation before us.
I truly am sorry for your loss, and feel for you, at this understandably confusing time.
Please know that we love all of you, and will keep all of you in our thoughts and prayers.
February 16, 2013

Just want to give our sympathy to Jackie and family. Dean was an excellent manager to me from his years in Mpls-Omaha-Mpls. He helped us relocate to Rapid City in 1995. Dear Jackie and Family:
I cannot fathom the depth of your loss, Dean was always a dedicated family man and a determined employee driven by family needs.

My first recollection of Dean was his intense lobbying to be transferred back to Minnesota when Bill Stevenson retired - his business logic was sound, but the driving force was to please you Jackie.

Over the next 5 years, Dean developed into a leader among his peers and was key to the creation of a Zone team that led the Nation. His powers of persuasion were amazing when accompanied with a good cigar and a few bottles of red wine! The biggest problem was avoiding his practical jokes and stopping he and MJ from running riot - like the day they decided to act as doorman and bellhop at the Marriott Courtyard - assisting bewildered customers with their baggage - my bewilderment came when I found that my reservation had been cancelled - Deano and MJ were at it again! There are many similar memories of Dean that I will cherish - a man with a big heart, dedicated and loyal to his family, his company and his love of golf.

We will miss you Deano!

Jackie, Kristen, Ben, and JJ,
We are so sorry to hear about your husband, and Dad. He was such a great cousin to see when we got together. His smile lit the room and his personality was "top notch." I remember him teasing me at the lake in Bedford. He picked me up tried to throw me over the dock when it was a little chilly out...I remember screaming! (by the way....Dean DID NOT throw me in)

I will pray for all of you and may God carry you through this time of Dean's loss here on earth. He has the best seat in the house now! He gets to watch over all of you and guide your family from above. Our time with family is so precious and no understands why God takes our loved ones too early. But I do know this, God loves us all and he will comfort and care for all of you until you all meet again in the wonderful place called "heaven."

Take care and you all will be in our prayers in the many days to come.

I am so sorry for your loss. I know it's heartbreaking and there are no words to make something like this make sense. He was obviously a wonderful man and a great dad as evidenced by your strength and character. February 15, 2013
Dear Jackie and the entire Harris family. Words cannot describe the random feelings, thoughts or emotions that so vividly project themselves during this most difficult period. I take solace during this dark passage, from one light to another, that so many of us have been blessed with the good fortune to have known Dean. My journey with Dean started two decades ago and our rich, vibrant, fun filled and even at times, prickly interactions yielded more than just a business friendship. Dean was able to maintain equilibrium between seriousness and comedy, challenges and fun and made most situations easier to address through his quickness and cleverness. As I read all the kind and thoughtful messages, I know that all of you have met one person who was genuinely true to his family, himself, friends, colleagues, and his faith while creating something special for all of us – a long lasting memory. I am sure he has already teed up some great pranks just a few feet after crossing the Pearly Gates….

See you later buddy
MJ

February 14, 2013
To all of Dean's family and friends. I just recently got to know Dean and was so shocked by his passing. I can only imagine how difficult this must be. Just from reading all of the messages so far and from the words I've heard at the office, he was exactly the man I got to know and wish I could have continued to know him more. He was a kind man with a great sense of humor. His last words to me were a very genuine "thank you" and I would like to reciprocate that back to him. Thank you Dean for the short, but memorable time I had the pleasure to get to know you. We will see each other again someday.
February 14, 2013
Dean, while I did not spend as much time with you, as I wanted to, every time I see you you had a smile and a good word. I always appreciated it and I was always happier afterwards! We will miss you!

To Dean's Family. I have known Dean for approxmately 17 years in my job as a Tech support engineer here in Cary. We have worked together in the past and we saw each other quite often in the office. Even saw him occasionally at my church durning Holidays. I enjoyed both working with him and talking to him over the years. I know he will be greatly missed by all but he is now in a better place. God Bless you all,

Dear Jackie and Family, This comes as a complete shock. I can't begin to tell you how much Dean meant to us all. He was like a son to me and he and my boys always hunted together. He was a super boy and we loved him more than I can express. Please accept our deepest sympathy and our prayers are with you and your family. The Bill Hullinger Family.

Dear Jackie and Family,
I worked with Dean over my 12 year career at Siemens and valued his friendship, even though I don't play golf. I am deeply saddened by this and want you to know that you and Dean are in my thoughts and prayers. But I must admit that I had a chuckle over the obituary's comment about his sense of humor, so let me share one story of how he tried to get me in trouble. I have a Nerf toy shotgun at work, just for when things get too stressful. I will ocasionally wander the floor just to shoot somebody with a foam dart. Dean saw me one day and went to HR to tell them that there was an employee with a gun wandering the building. You can just imagine what was going through their heads as they were quickly figuring out what procedures to activate. It's a wonder that Cary SWAT didn't come down on me. But that was Dean. He reminded me about that episode on numerous occasions, and always with that mischievous Dean twinkle in his eye. I will miss him greatly.

Your Husband, Father, Brother, Uncle, Friend and more was one of the first people I met when I started at Siemens 23 years ago and he has been a friend ever since. His sense of humor kept me going ! He was so proud of his family and would just beam when he spoke of you. He will be missed and loved forever. Thank you for sharing him with me. Dave Sherman

Dear Jackie and Family,
I worked with Dean for years and will miss him dearly. I also helped him in some of his practical jokes when his office was next to mine. I can still hear him laugh. He left us too soon.

May you find comfort in knowing that he was loved by so many and remembered kindly. My prayers and thoughs are with each of you.

Dear Jackie and Family,
Dean's drive to succeed and improve on today's challenges for a better future was just one of his many attributes he shared with his collegues and friends.
He was my boss and mentor for 9 years and will be sorely missed by all of the AXA installation team.

To all of Dean's family -
My thoughts and prayers to you on Dean's passing. When I joined Siemens, he was among the first field service colleagues to offer his support, and I always appreciated his wry sense of humor, even in tough times. I know this is a difficult time, and I hope that your many shared memories of him will bring some laughter through the tears.

Dear Jackie & Family:

While I've only known Dean for a few years, we always bantered back and forth about family (and work) and I always enjoyed his company. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.

Dear Jackie and family:
I am deeply sorry for your loss. Your family is in my thoughts and prayers. I had the privilege to become friends with Dean through the many rounds of golf we played at Devils Ridge. His sense of humor was incredible and we could always count on him to make the perfect quip at the perfect time. Dean always gave more than he received and was truly a great friend. He will be missed dearly.

Jackie, Ben, JJ and Kristen,
The Siemens family will miss Dean dearly. His larger than life personality and wit were his hallmark. I will miss his constant smile and friendship. He is now playing the best set of links ever. My thoughts and prayers are with you all at this time. Love to all, Dianne

I have so many great memories of my Uncle Dean! One of my favorites goes back to the Davenport days when he would make homemade ice cream for the annual Levine Family Christmas. As I grew older I learned to appreciate his sense of humor and looked forward to seeing him. A simple "hello" was never enough, he would give me a good "shove" and I knew that meant he loved me. I will miss you Uncle Dean!!
