Our deepest condolences to Robert, Rachel, Anna. We are very, very sad to hear about the sudden passing of Leah. We were so warmly greeted by her in their South Carolina home, in the summer of 1995, when they were expecting Rachel. Long time since then, but we are remembering vividly the love and humor Leah was radiating. Year after year, we enjoyed her heartfelt writings, and admired photos that kept us updated on how their family was growing and what beautiful places they were seeing ... Rest in peace, Leah!

You used to start our long conversations with "Ok, Cami, start saying!..."
All I can say is that there is not a day that goes by and I don't think about you.
I miss u terribly Leah!

Dear Leah's family:
We're thinking of you today and remembering Leah's birthday. Rachel and Anna are with me in the Alps, everything is going well, we enjoy skiing in the midst of beautiful landscapes. We had a moment of sadness tonight but talked a long time about God, Jesus and heaven. I have so many good memories to share.
Love and peace, Christine

Last winter I was given an extraordinary opportunity to visit Leah, Robert, and the girls in France. I was extremely excited since it was my first time out of the country and I would be spending both Christmas and New Year's with them. I would usually only get to spend a short time with Leah, but this time I was given ample opportunity to enjoy her company. There were several occasions in which I had a one-on-one conversations with her, and we would discuss politics, family, our day out on the ski slopes, or just sit around joking and talking in silly French accents. I got to know the beautiful, fun, and brilliant sides of Leah, and I know her presence always brought out a lighter, more fun side of any situation. That vacation was easily one of the best times of my life, and is the way I will remember Leah.

I'll never forget what it feels like to be in your company. My young adult life is filled with so many memories that include you, whether we were dancing until we were exhausted, laughing until we lost badder control, or just having a good chat. Thank you for being my friend all these years. You have truly enriched my life. Be at peace. Love, Barb

Although I have already written, since today is Leah's birthday, I am drawn to this memorial once again.
We all are going through the process of grief in our own personal ways. Some we share, some we keep. One that is underlying for all of us, is how precious Leah was! How unique, joyful, life-giving and intellectual.
I will always be proud to call her one of my dearest friends. And, Leah, we will work with your family on the Leah Memorial Walk with our hearts set on you. Happy Birthday my friend...
With Love to all of Leah's family and friends.

It is hard to think of all the years our children were at Metcalf and U High without the Jesse family being a part of those good years. Leah was a teammate of our daughter Erin, on the U High diving team and a classmate of our son, Barry. We are so saddened to learn of the loss of your daughter & sister, Leah. Love and concern.

I was devastated to learn of the loss of Leah. She was a beautiful person, so interesting and talented and fun. Her laughter would fill up a room. She will be greatly missed

Christmas memories for me are always connected with Leah - sitting in the basement during the Plum Pudding Party, caroling in the snow, melting plastic for ornaments - it was Leah that was there with us. She took on a significance to childhood in Normal that isn't really proportionate to the time we spent together, but maybe that's what made her so special to so many of us. Fun, larger-than-life, deeply etched into all the good memories of growing up. I'll miss you!
Sunday, December 04, 2011
Dear Robert, Rachel, and Anna, I keep you in my heart and in my prayers. The time we had with Leah was so precious, she was a light and an inspiration. I hope we can see you all soon, we miss you.

I first met Leah nearly 30 years ago when the Sister Cities Committee selected her to be our high school exchange student to Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan. She lived there for a year, attending school and staying with host families. She became proficient is speaking the Japanese language. Leah was an outstanding student and ambassador from Bloomington/Normal, and made many lasting friendships while in Japan. She was one of our most outstanding exchange students ever.

We have kept in touch with Leah's parents since that time and found them to be an excellent family whose friendship we value.

For Leah…

Words alone cannot express
The pain we feel inside
When someone who is part of us
Goes to the other side

Each of us has a special place
Where we can go to share
The memories of dear Leah
When her loss seems so unfair

I find myself walking with her
On our way home from school
To a cozy home full of love and laughter
Enjoying afternoon snack on a stool

We didn't always make it straight home
As Sande will attest
and that is where I will stay with Leah
Now that she is laid to rest

Please accept my sincere condolences in this time of sadness.

I am so very, very sorry and shocked to hear of Leah's passing. She left too soon. Such a vibrant woman - it doesn't seem possible she is gone. Thank you for the support and encouragement you gave to our daughter, as a student in International School and in an environment which could be at some times difficult. The inner fire you shared with her still burns, as it must for many of your other students.
For Robert and family, we hope the burden of your sorrows will lighten over time; we know Leah's presence in your hearts will never fade. We send our prayers and most profound sympathy.

Dear Robert, Rachel and Anna we are so so sad to hear of your loss. It's almost exactly a year ago since I last saw Leah on a return visit to C.F. I met her for lunch and we had such a lovely happy time sharing memories, catching up and taking about our girls. I will always remember her, I have a beautiful painting that Leah did for me many years ago which I love and is so often admired. Leah was a truly gifted and caring person she will be sadly missed.

Leah was bigger than life. My favorite memory is of her dressed as a 6' Barbie doll at the expat Halloween party in Clermont, entertaining us with her dry wit as she emcee'd the kids' costume fashion show . . . how hysterical she was! The world is less colorful without her, and there are no appropriate words to express the loss. We will always remember her.
Friday, November 04, 2011
Robert and Family, please know that you have my deepest regrets for your stunning loss.
Friday, November 04, 2011

May God grant you all peace, comfort, love, and strength in this incredibly difficult time. You all are in our prayers and hearts.

I send my deepest and sincere sympathy and prayers to the Radulescu and Jesse families on the loss of Leah.

I had the pleasure of accompanying best friends, Leah and Eunice Ha, to the ISU Student Union for several lunch hours during my senior year at U-High. I share fond memories of Leah's warm smiles and friendly conversations with anyone and everyone she would meet. Leah lived in a world where there was no hatred or prejudice. She loved people for just being who they are! Leah, may you rest in heavenly peace.

There are times when we do not understand because we only have a few words, a small piece of the picture. There is a greater story, a larger picture that we cannot know. These are the times that we must rely on what has served us well in the past - why it is called . . .Faith. You are surrounded by much love.
Thursday, November 03, 2011
We were extremely shocked and saddened by the news of the death of Leah, a former colleague and the mother of two of our present students, Rachel and Anna. Our sincere thoughts are with the whole family circle at this very distressing time. May the fact that others share your sorrow help you as you face the days and weeks ahead.
Thursday, November 03, 2011
I am SO SO very sorry to hear the news of Leah's passing. I was best friends with Leah for so many years in grade school and high school and had lost touch with her after high school. She is one of the biggest reasons I've attended the last few reunions at U-High -- in hopes to see her again. Leah was an absolutely beautiful person inside and out and never ceased to make me laugh at her outrageousness. May she rest in peace and may God bring peace to all of those in her family. Leah was a wonderful person and will be missed by all those who knew her.
Thursday, November 03, 2011

Thursday, November 03, 2011
My deepest condolences and sympathy to all those who loved this beautiful lady. She was a wonderful person who was so very loving and kind to all those she knew. I will forever remember Leah's amazing sense of humor and her contagious laugh. Leah was a captivating soul who had a unique perspective of circumstances. Her dramatic flair for telling a story of an event past could bring a smile to a person in an instant. She was taken from this world much too early and the world is defiantly at a loss without her in it. Rest in peace dear Leah, you are and will forever be missed by those of us who had the great fortune of having a glimpse of your beautiful soul…
