For the past week I started wondering what happened to Arthur, although I didn't know why, and I hadn't thought about him in years. I Googled him yesterday and was so sad to learn that he had died only a couple of weeks ago. I am very sorry for your loss. I hope he had a great life, and I offer my sincerest condolences to the family.
Growing up together in Bluefield I was his best friend in junior high and high school. We were in the Boy Scouts together at Trinity Methodist Church (my dad was our Scoutmaster) and inseparable camping buddies. In the wedding photo where he and Sue are running under the archway (at Va Tech, right?), I'm the guy standing at the far right, laughing and throwing rice. I remember that Corvette well.
So many good memories with a great man.
To the Andrea and the Shrader family you are in my prayers. We here at the office of Volunteer and Guest Services wishes to offer our sincere condolensces to you and family during this time. Earth has no sorrow that heaven cannot heal. We are only a phone call away.
Oh, I am so sorry for your loss. Mr. Shrader was a great husband, dad, and I am sure, grandfather. I send my love to you all.
Art, I will always remember you as a "mentor" and friend...you always made my son Michael smile and laugh...and you encouraged me when I was sick. I will never forget the time when I told you about my son's trip to Fort Jackson and how he REALLY wanted a "little mule"...you actually found one "on line" that was for sale for $1,000. God Bless you; you will be missed. Cathleen (& Michael Ridgley)
Art will be missed by everyone who knew him. It was my pleasure to know Art at DHEC. He always tried to see the positive in people and situations. He went out of his way to be nice to everyone. He always included me in the invitations to eat on Thursdays at Santa Fe's with the gang. He was very helpful in getting information for me as a fellow veteran of the Army. My prayers are with all of the family.
God bless all of you.

Dear Shrader family,
I am deeply saddened by your loss and send prayers to the family. Art was one of the sweetest and most dedicated gentlemen that I have ever met. I have had the honor of working in the UST Program of DHEC with Art since 2001. I always remember talking military stuff with him when my daughter was entering the Army as well as all the visits with that beautiful dog he loved so much. he will be sorely missed.
To Sue, Scott and Andrea, Bob and I did not have the privilege of knowing Arthur, but always heard such nice comments about him. We also enjoyed seeing him in your family pictures at Christmas time. His passing is a loss to all of you and your extended family. We send our sympathy and love.

Another great Man, Soldier, and Father leaves this world to watch over his family and friends from the next. God's speed as we keep your family in our prayers.
My heartfelt condolences to Art's family. May he rest in peace. My prayers are with him. I have known Art for over 4 years while working with him on multiple environmental sites with DHEC. He was very thorough in his profession and has taught me a lot about SC environmental regulations. Along with many other folks at DHEC, I considered Art as my mentor in teaching me and increasing my knowledge about environmental regulations in SC. I will heartily miss him....I am very sad and touched by his passing. May he rest in peace. I wish his family finds patience during these hard times of loss. I am sure he will be remembered as a honorable man, who was widely respected for integrity and impartial concern for the public good and for our great nation. Art-I will miss you.
