Artis you are a wonderful human being. I was blessed to be a part of your life through school, basketball, and my father. You were always so positive, and had a infectious smile. I am so glad we reconnected at our high school reunion in Sept. Thanks for all your gratitude you gave to me for my father. You shared lots of good times while on the WPD together. My deepest condolences to your entire family. God is an awesome God, and only takes the best. The City of Waukegan lost a fantastic role model, and citizen who gave of himself so freely. Thanks for all you did to make Waukegan a better place. Rest in peace my friend!

"Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him."-James 1:12

We lift you up unto the Lord
In this time of grief,
We pray the Lord will be to you
The comfort that you need
And when you have no answers
To all the questions 'why',
Know that God is in control
And is there by your side
He understands the way you feel
And knows the loss you face,
So rest in His eternal love,
For there, you'll find His grace.

It will be the little things that you will remember, the quiet moments, the smiles, the laughter, and although it may seem hard right now, it will be the memories of these little things that help to push away the pain and bring the smiles back again. May the peace which comes from the memories of love shared, comfort you now and in the days ahead.

To the Yancey family ...

"May you see God's light on the path ahead
When the road you walk is dark.
May you always hear,
Even in your hour of sorrow,
The gentle singing of the lark.
When times are hard may hardness
Never turn your heart to stone,
May you always remember
when the shadows fall—
You do not walk alone.
And may God hold Artis and you all ...
in the palm of His hand, now and forever. Amen."

Our deepest sympathy to the Yancey Family. I didn't know Artis very well, but knew of him because we graduated the same year - 1978, (he went to East Campus, I went to West Campus). I also knew of his various positions within the City. He was a very respectful professional. Artis attended and spoke at an event honoring my granddad (J.D.Slater, Sr, owner of the former Slater's BBQ) in November 2013. I wish to share the picture I took of him for his family. May your memories of the wonderful times you shared with Artis comfort you and your family, today and always.

To Tamara and family,
We extend to you our heartfelt sympathy in the loss of Bro. Artis.
Words cannot describe the love we had for him. He was a warm and caring man who loved God and his community. His passion for his work in Lake County will never be forgotten. His tireless devotion to his work demonstrated his desire to make Lake County a better place to live in. Every time we met, we talked about and his work in the community and his Savior, Jesus the Christ. Sis Yancey, keep your faith, hope and trust in The Lord and Remember that he promised never to leave nor forsake you. He promised to not leave you comfortless, he will come to you. Take his hand and he will help you to stand.
Because of Christ,
Pastor Gerald & Evangelist Janice Wilcoxon & the entire Mt Sinai Family

John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father's house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

To the Yancey family, I send to you my sincere condolences. I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Yancey while he served as Lake County Coroner. I remember asking the individual I was with "Who is that man? He is always wearing a nice suit and it never has a wrinkle?" I got the chance to know him better as the City Clerk. He always smiled and was always respectful to me and I appreciated his demeanor. Rest in heavenly paradise Clerk Yancey!
