I lost my best friend. She was both a sister and a mother to me. For almost 30 years I have enjoyed her company, gone on trips, shopped, had lunches, dinners, talked endlessly about poodles and mourned our losses.
I loved her so much and miss her every day.
Bertha and I became close friends. We had many great times together, and a lot of fun.She was funny, and a loyal friend.
I forgot to sign my name on the previous posting...Judy Damron Pool
Mom loved to help people; one could say that helping others was her hobby. She surely understood the meaning of "love thy neighbor". In turn, others loved her back. She was loved by many. A neighbor of mine said, "I will always remember Bertha for the joy, love and help that she gave to others. She once told me that she could take care of me if I needed her." (Catherine Alton)
Bertha's nephew whom we haven't seen for years said, "Knowing she wanted me notified makes me feel ten feet tall. Of all the people I've known Bertha easily ranks in the top ten."
It was a pleasure to know Bertha. Last June we spent a happy day together in Dallas. We shopped at the bustling Farmers' Market, ate delicious burger baskets on the patio at Jake's and hunted for bargains in the Khols shoe department. Bertha had a few years on the rest of us, but she matched us step for step and laugh for laugh. It was a very special day for me.
Little did I know that with the purchase of my first poodle from her,I also got a mom and dad figure.the love they both generated to my family and I are full of wonderful memories I cherish .thank you Judy and Jeannie for sharing them with me and allowing me to help keep watch over momma the past 2mos of her life,it meant so much to be there with her and to help y'all.I can't thank you enough.they brought love and joy to everyone they met.
My fathers family is now complete in heaven. What a joy it must have been when Bertha joined them. They had so much fun here on earth that heaven is in for a treat. We will miss them all. Bertha was the last to take the journey so she will really be missed.
Until we meet again, Much love to you all.
say hi to grandpa for me, we will miss you, It's too bad that we couldn't keep the family reunion going, then i would have had the opportunity to see you again before this happened, Tom Stockham
I knew Bertha because of our family friendship with the Damrons. My favorite memories include Bertha's natural wit and great sense of humor. We played cards, traveled and enjoyed movies as well as dinner out and shopping. She was wonderful to be around and I always looked forward to seeing her. She loved her family and I know she will be remembered by all who got to know her. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family with their loss. Our family celerates her life. She was a treasure!
Our neighbor for 33 years! We love you and hope you have a wonderful rest. I have rarely seen a woman who made more long term friends than Bertha. I admired her in so many ways and I am so very happy that I got to tell her that before she passed.... Our friendship lasted to her passing, but she watched my children grow, and was very close to them. We visited almost everyday, and she was always so grateful for me fixing things around her house and checking her car, but the reward was really mine for having such a wonderful neighbor, every day so sweet and happy!!
