I just found out this afternoon that dear sweet Brett, my nephew died. Although I have not seen him in years, I have nothing but sweet memories of a good little boy who was the apple of his grandparents eyes. I remember when he was a very little boy, and I was getting ready for prom. He asked me if I would go to prom with him when he grew up. Yes he was taken way to soon, but the good ones always are.

Dear Ken, Please visit this memorial website of a 43-year-old young man that served on the U.S.S. FORRESTAL. I didn't know if you have a listing for FORRESTAL personnel that are no longer with us on your website. In the picture tribute, you will see several Navy photos of Brett on the FORRESTAL. I didn't know Brett personally, but I'm best friends with a man (Jamie Young) that worked with Brett when he was an electrician for CEI. I thought someone associated with the FORRESTAL should also know about Brett. Thank you, Larry Garrigus

Although I barely knew Brett, the service this evening was a testament to his spirit and love. The crowd that came to honor him was an amazing sight and truly shows you how much he was liked and how many he touched. You will truly be missed. My condolences go to the Bauer's and to Tracy. God bless all of you.

I knew Brett from school, and I can remember how goofy he was. He was a nice guy, who could be intimidating if you didn't know him. I haven't seen him since our 10 year class reunion, I'm glad he found his true love and was doing so well in life. My heart felt sympathy to his family for their loss.

My prayers go out Tracy and Brett's family. He was a great man and will be missed by all who knew him.

Although I don’t have one specific memory of Brett, I do remember growing up thinking that he looked very intimidating. Then years later when I had the opportunity to get to know him it quickly became apparent there was nothing to be intimidated by because he could not have been a nicer guy. He was funny, goofy at times, and in general just a GOOD guy who was always fun to be around. Last year Jennifer and I ran into Brett and his mom while out to lunch and although we hadn’t seen him in almost 15 years, we both recognized Brett as soon as we walked in the restaurant. Brett and his mom came over to our table as they were leaving and Brett talked about Tracy and her daughter and how he was looking forward to spending his future traveling with Tracy. He was obviously in love, and very happy. It was great seeing him after all these years and it was especially great to hear he had found someone to spend his life with and had made a family with. The whole Horner family has been thinking about and praying for the Bauer family as well as Tracy and her daughter…It is a tremendous loss to everyone who was lucky enough to know him.

If I had known that Monday night would have been the last kiss, the last I love you.........I would have tried to made it last as long as ever. Brett is the love of my life, my protector, my best friend, my other half. We were getting married Sept 4. He picked me. He was a wonderful father to Morgan, and just everything I could have ever wanted in a man. I want him back. Brett, I will forever love you. I will always be yours.

Your soulmate,
Tracy

It is difficult to find the words to express the loss of such a great man. Brett was taken too soon from all those who loved and admired him and now we celebrate his life. Brett and Tracy were a perfect match as they just let one another just be themselves. To the Bauer family...my sincere sympathy for your loss and thank you for sharing this wonderful person who you call son, brother, grandson, uncle and nephew with our family. To my sister and Morgan...he picked you two to share the most important part of himself with and that can never be taken away from you. To the Big Guy...I hope to see you again someday, but until then, just know that we will take care of one another down here. RIP.

Terri

My deepest condolensces to Bretts family at this time of sorrow. Brett was a great man and friend to everyone. I spent time deer hunting with him over the last several years during the Missouri firearms season and also shared a few trout fishing expeditions with him at Lake Taneycomo over the years. Brett was a true outdoorsman, a great friend and a man I respected. He always had a funny story or comment and a big smile on his face sitting around the campfires we shared. I am very saddened by his untimely death, but my life has been greatly enhanced by having him as a friend and sharing a few memories over the years. He will live on in our memories and he will be greatly missed around the campfire circle of life.
