Carlton was a special man who made everyone around him comfortable with his great sense of humor. In 2003 he made a special trip from Washington D.C. to join the festivities presented by the New Mexico State NLAPW Convention in honor of his wife Dr. Bernice S. Reid, President of the National League of American Pen Women. The five-day Convention was held in Truth or Consequences, NM and his surprise appearance was the "icing on the cake"! He certainly will be missed by all!

Carlton Reid and I bonded the first time we met. Unfortunately, space does not allow me the full opportunity to pay tribute to a man who change my focus on how to live your life with a defined purpose having "God" and family as your driving force. He left a lot of himself in the lives of other and we are thankful his path crossed ours and blessed us with Grace, Love and Salvation.
Mr. Reid is gone and I will miss him. He was a true leader and I could always count on his good judgement and fairness. Having served in Vietnam I have not only lost a friend but I have lost a Brother. My sympathies go to his family and those near and dear to him. May he forever abide in our memory.

Carlton gave energy and confidence to those who worked for young children and families. He held high standards for us to reach and was always available in case we needed help. He was dearly loved and respected.
Our prayers go out to his family who he dearly loved.

This message is sent with deep appreciation and respect of our Head Start promoter, advocate and very much loved colleague, Carlton Reid.
Carlton understood the meaning of the word "team" and always focused on the good of the "team" as he made many great contributions to the Office of Head Start, helping us all to move forward personally and professionally in numerous ways.
His work here will not soon be forgotten. Please accept our sincere condolences for the family. Carlton was a remarkable man and everyone at the Office of Head Start is better for having known him. We were humbled by his kindness and compassion to everyone.

CARD Head Start would like to express to the family that we are a better program and people because of Mr. Reid , He often pushed and encouraged us to do our best and then do better ! Your family is in our prayers and may God's peace be with you during this time.
Carlton was a professional with a strong character, but utmost a soldier. I am glad I got to know him at DHHS. My prayers go out to the family and friends.
I have attended many training sessions presented by Mr Reed. His dedication and love of life made the session memorable. He set the bar so high, few of us will ever be able to equal his contributions. May his family be comforted that he lives on in all the people he has inspired.
We are deeply saddened by the passing of Carlton Reid. He will be remembered for his years of dedicated service to those in need. The staff of CSNT Head Start.

I want to express my condolences to Carlton's family and friends. It was a pleasure to know and work with Carlton. He was a good man and will be missed but not forgotten.
Carlton lit up the halls of ACF with his smile and laugh.
In loving memory of a wonderful person who deeply cared about our society's most vulnerable children and families. We will miss you, Carlton, and are sending you onto the next life with positive energy, warm wishes, and deep gratitude for how you touched our lives.
I worked with Carlton for several years in his role in Region VI Head Start; one of the nicest guys I ever met. He worked with the Head Start Grantees, helping them improve their programs and providing quality services to children. His goal was always to make the programs better. He will be greatly missed. Proud that I was able to work with him at various times.
A great and honest man who loved people, touched many lives, and was an inspiration to all.
Mr. Reid, my former federal government Head Start Program Supervisor, may you rest in peace !!!
