I can't say how sad I was to hear that Aunt Connie had passed away. But I'll always remember the laughs & fun I had with her and Uncle Duane. She never missed a chance to stuff me full of a good meal and put up with an awful lot of guff I gave her all in good fun. To Susan, Tom, Jim, Gerry, & Leah there's nothing I can say to make it any easier but I will say that your Mom made many memories that will last forever. She will be missed.
What a beautiful tribute to your Mom with all the wonderful pictures. She had a full life with a family that loved her very much. I remember visiting Kenora when I was 10 years old and Aunt Connie seemed bigger than life to me. She was always telling jokes and seemed fearless. Her love for Uncle Duane is obvious in photos of them together. How lucky you all are to have had such a Mom. Our thoughts are with you...
We're very sorry to hear about your Mom's passing. It was touching what you said about her career at the jail. They were amazing women and friends.
Our thoughts are with you all.
You all have been in my thoughts, especially today as you say your final goodbye to your Mum. She will be missed by all who knew her. My heart goes out to every one of the family.
What a wonderful obituary for Auntie Connie. She led a full life with Uncle Duane, friends, kids and grandkids.
I remember visiting Kenora in the late 60's, ealy 70's. Life at the Beach home was filled with the busyness of kids, laughter, dog hair & spit, good food. Wild but fun. One time at Gibi Lake, Auntie Connie was driving Uncle Duane's newest, biggest power boat over to Uncle Don and Aunt Dorothy's dock, stalled it and was shouting, "Stop the boat! Stop the boat! Duane is going to kill me [if she got a scratch on it]!" So, we kids stopped it, me by sticking out my legs & having the skin scrapped off (the boat was fine!), but I was patched up & better in no time.
Speaking of knitting, Aunt Connie knit a Cowichan sweater for Elizabeth when she was little in the mid 80's. That sweater/jacket went on to be worn by Sarah, and has since made the rounds of the neighbourhood keeping kids warm.
I am sorry that she has passed away. I'm sure you will all miss her.
Our sincere condolences.
My thoughts are with all of you during this difficult time of loss. Your Mom was deeply loved and touched so many lives.
